Clinical Coding Supervisor

Requirements:

• Matric
• Registered Nursing Diploma with current SANC Registration
• Advanced certificate in ICD 10 coding is essential
• More than 5years experience in private healthcare or managed healthcare environment with at least 2 years experience within clinical coding in private hospital or managed care environment Multi-disciplinary clinical experience.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology Ability to analyses medical records and identify documentation deficiencies In depth knowledge and understanding of private hospital billing guidelines/NHN billings guidelines
• Thorough understanding of CPT and ICD 10 coding standards
• General accounting knowledge and financial skills
• Computer literacy is essential
• Leadership qualities and mentoring skills
• The ability to function independently and work well under pressure
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Numerate, accurate, methodical, customer centric and the ability to maintain motivation
• Valid drivers license

Key Outputs:

• Implement strategic procedures and evaluation methods that will ensure and encourage the accuracy of coding
• Analyse clinical data submitted to the various medical institution, scheme, insurers and ensure that it has been coded accordingly
• Ensure that all facilities comply with the clinical coding guidelines
• Review complex cases and conducting audits on all case management updates
• Examine records and documents for missing information
• Review the non-release reports of all hospitals and liaise with admin managers in accordance with set targets
• Provide staff training Provide stats and reports as requested and effectively execute instructions from management Identify trends
• Communicate lost specialty days for ICU and High care
