PURPOSE

Responsible for research and development of training material on SAIPA designations and CoFE
frameworks, curricula, material and assessments

Facilitate training to the advancement of profession in South Africa, on the continent and globally

KEY OUTPUTS

BUSINESS OPERATIONS

1. COFE DEVELOPMENT

Benchmarking

  • Conduct competency frameworks and curricula mapping of other education providers, as well
    as PAOs globally and other relevant professional bodies
  • Compare and analyse SAIPA and CoFE competency frameworks and curricula in relation to
    those of other providers, professional bodies and PAOs to make recommendations for:
  • alignment, improvement, partnerships and collaboration, articulation and mobility rules, policies,
    and procedures
  • Engage with employers and practitioners to determine the needs of the profession in relation to
    the education and its link to the world of work

Development & Review

  • Develop competency frameworks for identified occupations and/or functional levels for the
    purposes of designation and qualification registration
  • Develop curricula for identified occupations and/or functional levels for the purposes of
    designation and qualification registration
  • Develop training material which is aligned to approved curricula for the purposes of regulatory
    body accreditation and training implementation
  • Develop assessments and related tools which are aligned to the relevant competency
    framework and/or curricula for the purposes of implementation for awarding of designations
    and/or qualifications
  • Develop short courses and masterclasses as approved after identification through needs
    analysis

Research

  • Conduct research related to education, programme development, training, and assessment
    practices to ensure leading practice standards are implemented in term of development and
    training practices of CoFE
  • Conduct research related to education, programme development, training, and assessment
    practices to ensure leading practice standards are implemented by SAIPA and CoFE
  • Keep abreast of initiatives and practices of global PAOs as they related to education, training,
    and assessment
  • Identify opportunities for partnerships and collaborative relationships as it pertains to research
    in the in the field of accountancy.
  • Prepare research articles and opinion pieces for publication
  • Manage and contribute to IFAC and IAEP projects and programmes

2. TRAINING

Internal Training

  • Prepare for and conduct training in the following areas:
  • CoFE developers in terms of CoFE development methodology
  • Facilitators on the SAIPA Pedagogy
  • SAIPA and CoFE staff on updates to Pedagogy and/or development methodology

External Training

  • Prepare for and conduct training in the following areas:
  • Specified courses and modules (s part of full programmes, as well as courses)

3. COFE OPERATIONS

Accreditation Support

  • Provide support, guidance, and assistance to SAIPA/CoFE for accreditation applications with
    regulatory bodies
  • Ensure all developer meetings are scheduled and included on the CoFE workplan
    New Developers, Trainers, and Assessors
  • Identify and collate a data base of new developers, trainers, and assessors for SAIPA and CoFE
  • Determine SLA and/or contracts deliverables for new developers, trainers and assessors 4.

Reporting

  • Develop and submit development, research, and training plans for inclusion in the overall CoFE
    annual plan
  • Manage CoFE developer and trainer database
  • Submit monthly reports on the progress of development and research activities
  • Submit monthly reports on training initiatives and activities conducted by CoFE

5. Internal Relations and External Relations

  • Participate in key decisions as a member of the department team
  • Maintain in-depth relations with all staff, members, and stakeholders of SAIPA and CoFE
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Determining the need for MOU/MOA with external stakeholders for the benefit of SAIPA and/or

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Qualification

  • Matric
  • Post graduate qualification in Accounting and/or Auditing

Experience

  • +5 years in Accounting/Auditing in practice and/or accounting/auditing in education
  • Previous experience conducting research and developing educational content
  • Previous experience developing competency frameworks, curricula, training material and
    assessments
  • Previous training (facilitator/lecturer) experience will be advantageous

Knowledge and Skills

  • Practical and technical understanding of Accounting and Auditing practices
  • Practical and technical understanding of the regulatory and legislative compliance
    requirements within Accounting and Auditing professions
  • Understanding of the education landscape
  • Knowledge and experience in conducting research
  • Knowledge and understanding of competency frameworks, curriculum, material development
    and assessment development
