Junior Project Officer (Building/Construction
(24 months Fixed Term Contract)
Salary: R 30 673 (Centurion)
Requirements: Degree/ National Diploma in Construction or Project Management or any NQF Level 6 equivalent qualification in built environment • Coupled with 3 years’ experience in Project management environment • Registered with The South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) • Valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle • AutoCAD, Ms Projects or similar software experience will be an added advantage • Recognition of Prior Leaning (RPL) and applicable knowledge and experience on the Job may be considered during the selection process. Essential criteria: ● Demonstrate ability to interpret and implement legislation, policies and procedures ● Presentation, facilitation, analytical, problem solving, interpersonal skills and report writing skills • Ability to resolve problems in a timely and consistent manner • Strong communication skills • Strong attention to detail • Ability to rally a team with a positive attitude • Excellent organization and time management skills • Proficiency in project management tools and Microsoft Office • Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Key Performance Areas: • Interpreting architectural drawings and specifications • Coordinating labour resources • Consulting with Architects, Engineering Professionals and other professionals where required • Meeting with landlords, property developers and contractors involved in the project processes to ensure projects are completed accordingly on time and within budget where needed • Assist in preparing contract bids and drafting building construction specifications • Ensuring adherence to building legislation and standards of performance, quality, cost and safety • Arranging submission of plans • Overseeing the standard and progress of contractors’ work • Arranging building inspections by local authorities when required • Supervise and coordinate projects from design to completion and delivery, ensuring the successful implementation of projects • Prepare briefs and accurately relay relevant information to the Team Leader, project team and committee members • Work closely with the Project Leader (Facilities), and space committee members in a dynamic and supportive environment to maximize the success of projects • Prepare and revise project timelines with project team members, project leader, and stakeholders, considering the specific requirements and milestones of projects • Coordinate project team members for appropriate and efficient resource allocation throughout the project lifecycle • Keep relevant stakeholders informed of progress and major milestones throughout projects, managing expectations and ensuring alignment with project goals • Identify and mitigate risks and issues related to projects• Ensure that projects are delivered on time, and meet the specified scope • Report project statuses and provide recommendations for optimizing future projects to the Project Leader • Coordinating with cross-functional teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors, to ensure project deliverables are completed on time • Developing project plans, including schedules and resource allocation • Prepare and review project proposals, contracts, and other project-related documentation • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure that construction work is progressing according to the project plan and specifications • Maintain project documentation, including progress reports, budget reports, change requests and minutes of project-related meetings • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings and making recommendations to Team Leader • Conduct regular project team meetings and providing guidance and support to project team • Ensure that all project stakeholders are kept informed of project progress and any changes to the project plan • Collaborate with the Team Leader to effectively manage projects • Prepare accurate and detailed project proposals • Provide site supervision as necessary to ensure project success on behalf of the Project Leader.
