CENTRE FOR HIGHER EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT (CHED)
The Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching invites applications to work within the CHED department on PASS conditions. We welcome applicants keen to join the CILT team working towards UCT Vision 2030 commitment to develop digitally enabled education. The candidate will work with staff to expose students to the latest learning technologies in an appropriate environment that promotes equity and student engagement.
The successful candidate will join the CILT Course and Curriculum Design team in supporting academics to develop the most inclusive educational provision across in-person, blended and fully online course modalities and accessible learning materials.

REQUIREMENTS:
- An NQF 8 level qualification in a relevant field (i.e., post-graduate qualification)
- Five years’ relevant work experience which should include at least:
o Two years’ experience working in the higher education sector.
o Two years’ experience creating online or blended courses.
o One year’s experience coordinating online or blended education projects including resource allocation
- Knowledge of educational technologies
- Knowledge of digital learning platforms
- Knowledge and application of learning design principles
- Knowledge and understanding of the landscape of contemporary public higher education.
- Experience in working with a creative digital content team.
- Comfortable in managing relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrable ability to multitask and coordinate multiple projects.
- Experience of managing a team or project, with minimal supervision
- Strong communication (written and verbal) skills – including report compilation, presentations, and editing.
- Problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Advanced computer literacy including using collaborative virtual teamwork platforms e.g., MS Office suite, G-Suite, Microsoft OneDrive
- Experience in project scoping and with project management software and tools
- Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
ADVANTAGEOUS:
- An NQF 9 level qualification
- Knowledge and experience of applying Universal Design for Learning and learning design for equity.
- Curriculum development in higher education contexts
- Resource and budget tracking experience
- Monitoring and evaluation experience
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working with academics and the CILT team to create inclusive online or blended courses.
- Co-ordinate effective project delivery processes for online and blended course redesign and development
- Participate in evaluation activities as required.
- Track and monitor resources and activities.
- To engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders
The annual cost of employment for 2023 is between R580 137 and R682 513, depending on experience
