Key ResponsibilitiesRecruit top talent for Head Office roles: • Working closely with line managers to manage the end-to-end recruitment process for roles assigned to you to the agreed time line • Induction of new staff • Training and presenting Induction and Recruitment workshops • Conducting 3 month reviews • Conducting exit interviews • Management of social media platforms for recruitment Partner with Line Managers in business areas: • Drive development and succession of top talent • Partner with Line Managers to drive a culture of high performance • HR support to Line Managers e.g. Performance management, on-boarding of new staff Support Graduate Recruitment Programme : • Coaching and mentoring graduates on our Merchant Trainee Programme • Support in-house Graduate Recruitment Programme, in the recruitment and selection process • Assist in the enhancements of the Merchant Trainee Programme • Facilitating on workshops when needed • Supporting and developing Merchant Trainers in the business HR Projects aligned to current business need: • Projects vary according to business need, but are typically centred on strategic business imperatives that drive improvements to performance, succession and retention e.g. 360 feedback tools • Development and implementation of training material and tools

Job DescriptionTruworths has an exciting opportunity in the Employee Relations department for an IR Professional with a passion for day-to-day IR. The core objective of the Employee Relations team is to ensure fair and respectful treatment of employees, in compliance with the law and consistent with our values, policies and objectives. This position requires an individual who has previous employee and labour relations experience and skills that enables the individual to work on a broad spectrum of employee relations and labour law matters. The individual will be based at our head office in Cape Town.
Key Responsibilities• Investigate all ER matters, composing investigation reports and proposing remedial action based on investigation findings. • To assist and support Line Management in dealing with poor performance and misconduct issues by giving advice on how best to deal with employment related issues, preparing and approving charges. • Assisting with preparation of disciplinary hearing and supporting Chairpersons with letters of sanction and findings. • Assisting Line Managers with preparation for CCMA cases • Providing guidance and advice on Department of Employment and Labour inspections, relating to BCEA, OHSA etc. • Contributing to the development of IR related guidelines, policies and procedures. • Assist and collaborate on various ER projects. • Managing the anonymous whistleblower process in accordance with the relevant legislations. • Weekly/quarterly and annual reporting on statistics and trends.
Qualifications and Experience• Relevant tertiary qualification in HR/IR. • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (would be advantageous). • At least 2 years’ experience as an IR specialist or HR Generalist with IR experience would be advantageous. • Previous experience within the Retail or Service sector will be advantageous.
Competencies• Very well developed written and verbal communication skills. • Good people skills particularly in assisting people through difficult situations. • Good conflict handling skills. • Person must be assertive, confident and be able to make tough calls. • Attention to detail. • Organised and the ability to multi task in a fast-paced environment • Patience and remaining calm and effective under pressure. • Able to deal effectively with all levels of staff including senior management. • Good all round experience of HR systems, policies, procedures, legal requirements, programs & practices.
