The main purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive and effective legal support to the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) and its subsidiaries (collectively called the “SARB Group”) in the field of commercial law, ranging from facilities agreements, information technology, professional services contracts for training programs, fixed term contracts, learnerships to dispute resolution. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
- Negotiate, draft and vet various commercial contracts.
- Identify, address and manage potential legal risks within the SARB Group.
- Steer legal processes for internal clients on fairly complex legal challenges and disputes affecting their operations.
- Conduct research into a wide range of matters relating to commercial, procurement and disputes.
- Take responsibility for addressing issues pertaining to relevant legislation applicable to the SARB Group.
- Review and draft policies, procedures and guidelines for the SARB Group.
- Establish processes to enhance efficiencies within the SARB Group.
- Provide legal advice and opinions.

The main purpose of this position is to assist the Senior Finance Business Partners in the Financial Services Department at the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) in delivering financial insights, knowledge and expertise to other departments of the SARB in order to ensure commercially sound decision making.
Detailed description
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
- Engage in short-term planning and perform tasks against work plans as defined in conjunction with the supervisor.

Enterprise and Solutions Architect – BSTD

The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) is looking to employ seasoned professionals with expertise in enterprise architecture, solutions architecture, domain architecture, integration architecture, data architecture, technology architecture, business architecture, cloud architecture and/or security architecture to augment its Enterprise Architecture team.
This team is focused on technical principles converging with imaginative problem solving and can be seen as the ‘glue’ that aligns the strategies of the SARB with the other aspects of the organisation, such as maintaining and managing an optimal information technology (IT) systems landscape, developing and managing business processes, data and appropriate technology investment and providing guardrails for safety.

Various roles are available. The successful candidate(s) for each position will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
Solutions Architect
The main purpose of this position is to develop and implement the architectural design of solutions to support the business goals and ensure the alignment of business and IT at a solution level within the SARB.
- Experience in application analysis/architecture and/or design and/or enterprise architecture and/or solutions architecture is required for this position. Experience in the payment ecosystem for interbank transfers, SWIFT and ISO 20022 would be an advantage.
Enterprise Security Architect
The main purpose of this position is to manage the security architecture domain and landscape, develop reference content and ensure the application thereof in the strategic and operational environment for a safer SARB.
- Experience in risk analysis, security architecture, design, enterprise architecture or solutions architecture is required for this position.
Enterprise Architect
The main purpose of this position is to enable business and IT leaders to make investment decisions that balance and prioritise current operational demands, disruptions and opportunities with a longer-term strategic vision of the organisation. The Enterprise Architect would also have to provide technology guidance, roadmaps, principles, standards and best practices that support the strategic goals of the SARB, ensure business and IT alignment and guide Solution Architects.
- Experience in at least three architecture domains such as business architecture, data architecture and application architecture, with at least five years’ enterprise architecture experience is required for this position.

To be considered for these positions, candidates must be in possession of:
- a Bachelor’s degree in Informatics, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field (a postgraduate qualification would be an added advantage);
