TAFELBERG SCHOOL, Bothasig, Cape Town

Starting date: ASAP – 31 December 2024  

Salary: +- R16 000 per month

Minimum requirement:

  • Suitably qualified librarian /educator
  • Experience working in a school
  • Knowledge and experience in managing a library and teaching information literacy
  • Knowledge and experience in teaching and enhancing reading skills
  • Experience in managing Gr 1-9 learners who present with specific learning difficulties
  • SACE registered

Other:

  • ICT knowledge and skills
  • A desire to inspire a culture of reading
  • Ability to create a space that is inviting to learners and encourages a passion for reading
  • Organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to apply effective, positive disciplinary procedures
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and keep to deadlines.
  • Must be able to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience, expertise and willingness to become actively involved in the programs of the school and co-curricular program.
  • Willing and able to work beyond school hours when requested.
  • 1st Aid and PDP a recommendation.
  • Own or dependable transport to and from school daily.
  • Police clearance (including status regarding the National Sexual offenders register)

ROWING COACHES

Coaching applications for the upcoming 2024/ 2025 season are open. Our club of 50+ rowers is looking for coaches of all levels to join our team. Empathy, respect, and responsibility are at the core of our values; candidates should value these traits in their approach to coaching and learning.

Applications are welcome from suitably qualified and experienced individuals who believe they have the required skills and competencies to take on this position for the upcoming 2024/ 2025 season.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Proven performance of coaching and mentoring student athletes; including experience in the pastoral space.
  • Relevant sport related qualifications (FISA Level 1/2 and First Aid desirable).
  • Ability to manage practices and work outside normal hours and/or weekends.
  • Ability or knowledge of rigging and setting boats and blades for specific technical needs.
  • Conflict management skills (written and verbal).
  • Proven ability to work with diverse teams and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Clearance from the National Register for Sex Offenders (NRSO) confirming no record of sexual offences against children and mentally impaired people or a valid police clearance certificate.
  • Understand and adhere to the by-laws, policies, procedures, regulations, and rules of St Stithians Girls’ College.

The role will include the following:

  • The coaching of students during team practices on and off the water.
  • The attendance and coaching of students at regattas, camps, and tours in Gauteng or away.
  • Maintaining the club’s equipment relating to both the athletes and coaches.
  • Work collaboratively with other coaches and the greater rowing community.
  • Complete attendance registers and capture relevant data at all practices as well as submit and enter crew lists timeously for regattas to the head of rowing.
  • Write termly sport comments for each student and submit them timeously to the head of rowing.
  • Represent the Girls’ College, at relevant events, with honour and pride.
