Job DescriptionRCL FOODS is seeking a Miller to join our Baking Division. The role will be based in Pretoria West and report to the Head Miller. The successful applicant will be responsible for efficient and cost-effective operations of all mills while ensuring all finished products adhere to specific quality criteria, and all stipulated targets and measurements to be attained daily.
Minimum RequirementsQualified Miller that is trade tested in maize milling technologies preferably (Wheat and Maize will be ideal)Minimum 3 years of milling experience in a high-capacity plantFumigation and Grading CertificationAdvanced milling qualifications will be an advantage
Duties & ResponsibilitiesOperational Tasks Roller Mills:Ensure break releases on Wheat Mills are carried out on a weekly basis as per instruction.
Ensure no build-up of stock on roll feed plates.
Ensure all scrapers and roll brushes are checked per shift and changed if necessary
Ensure roll hopper exhausts are fully operational per shiftPlansifter:Ensure all sifter maintenance is carried out as per requirements and schedules
Ensure any burst covers are replaced on shift
Ensure all inlet/outlet sleeves on sifter and purifiers are intact
Ensure screens of all turbo sieves on Germ system is intact, clean and machine inside cleaned out regularlyPurifiers:Ensure all purifier brushes are fully operational and in good condition at all times Air tunnel on top of machines are clean and purifiers set.
Ensure covers are taut and not blinded at all times
Ensure correct separation on all concentrators and maize mill aspiratorsAspiration and Exhausts:Ensure manometer reading on all filters is on acceptable levels
Ensure pneumatic hammer and pulsing unit on filter is working at all times
Ensure heater banks running at correctly controlled temperature at all times General Routine checks on efficient running of milling machines set by Mill Manager
Ensure correct flour stocks are available in correct location as required by scheduling system Correct setting and balancing of Milling machines
Ensure performance rate of 95% maintained on all mills Quality
Ensure Pekar tests are done twice per shift on all finished products

This involves brainstorming ideas, discussing the product’s requirements, and determining the market and overall feasibility for a particular product concept.The role would be based in Centurion 
Minimum RequirementsMinimum 3-year Qualification in Culinary arts / Qualified Chef.Numerical and verbal aptitude, strong communicator.Intermediate computer skills (especially excel and word).A valid driving license.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesKeep their ‘ears to the ground’ and speak with people, read magazines, read food blogs, and watch food shows, all in an effort to understand which food products people enjoy, and where market gaps are.Discover who’s going to buy the product and ways to make it unique.  Use surveys and other research tools to focus on the product concept and target goals, such as what market gap it will fill.Define the key elements of the new food product, such as the format, size, taste, colour, texture, and consistency.Develop the new food product, including the recipe, sourcing of ingredients, shelf life, packaging & manufacturing processes. Developing a new food product involves assembling and presenting samples of the product to an external customer.Identify market niches and opportunities into which existing products could be adapted and new products developed.Continuously research food trends to stay ahead of consumer trends.Evaluate the success of new products in their markets.Formulation of new recipes and improvement of existing recipes and packaging.Recommend new products and work with the NPD team to transform food concepts into viable products, this involves brainstorming ideas, discussing the product’s requirements, and determining market and overall feasibility for a particular product conceptConduct taste panels for proposed new products and document resultsPrepare reports and recommendations based on new food product trials.Coordinate shelf-life studies with the NPD Process Technologist.Ensure that potential new products can be manufactured in profitability.Liaise with suppliers to ensure that RCL Foods is aware of new ingredients coming onto the marketPresent new products to customers.
