Legal Advisor – Corporate Legal

  • Position: Legal Advisor – Corporate Legal (Ref: LADV001)
  • Grade: D1 – D5
  • Salary: All-inclusive remuneration package negotiable
  • Centre: Corporate Legal

Purpose of the role:
To provide legal advice on general corporate and commercial law matters and transactions; and other
legal advisory of the PIC.

Requirements:

  • LLB degree
  • Admitted attorney of the High Court with between 3-5 years post articles experience
  • Corporate/commercial legal advisory
  • Comfortable with technology due to the digitization of processes.

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research, provide opinions and advice in respect of corporate/commercial law
  • Draft, review and negotiate agreements of corporate/commercial/operations including
    information technology
  • Participate in and provide legal advisory in PIC corporate projects
  • Manage and assist with corporate litigation of the PIC
  • Identify new amendments to legislation that impact PIC and advise and assist with
    implementation.
  • Understanding of technology law and privacy
  • Advise on FAIS and related legislation
  • Manage legal instructions and attorneys on the panel
  • Oversee contract management process at Legal and manage contract management process in
    respect of concluded agreements in corporate legal
  • Governance including policy review and management
  • Provide training and awareness to staff
  • Any other function under corporate legal as requested.

Senior Manager: Direct Investments

  • Position: Senior Manager: Direct Investments (Ref: SM_DI14)
  • Grade: E4 – F1
  • Salary: All-inclusive remuneration package negotiable
  • Centre: PIC Properties division, Pretoria

Purpose of the role:
To oversee property portfolios of both direct assets and investment vehicles pertaining to the directly held portfolio. To combine the strategic day-to-day running of the portfolio along with driving the added value initiatives, through development, acquisition and disposal, and reporting to the client

Requirements:

  • Honours BCom Finance degree or equivalent qualification (NQF level 8)
  • Relevant MComm, MBA or MSc in Real Estate would be advantageous
  • Minimum 10 – 12 years’ experience within the Property Investment Industry in Senior Management
    with at least 5 years’ experience in managing direct reports
  • Knowledge of Property Asset Management, Property Management, Property Law, Property
    Development, Property Acquisition & Disposal, Accounting and performance calculation
  • Sound, Strong and Ethical Leadership
  • FAIS RE 05 Certificate or must be obtained within 6 months of employment

Duties:

  • Effective management and oversight of property portfolio of direct assets and related investment
    vehicles
  • Ensure achievement of market-related returns on investments and the existing portfolio
  • Growth and Development of the portfolio in line with the requirements of the mandate and strategy
  • Unlocking value for clients through underlying asset strategies
  • Manage risk to ensure the stability of cash flows
  • Initiation of effective internal business processes and procedures for the achievement of better
    efficiencies
  • Accurately report to the Board, and relevant committees
  • Oversight and development of investment strategies at a building and portfolio level
  • Oversight and implementation of sustainable initiatives to drive efficiencies at a building and
    portfolio level
  • Effective stakeholder management of Property Management function to ensure effective
    management of portfolio assets are performed
  • Effective oversight and management of the Asset Management and Development Team to ensure
    that new and refurbished buildings are
  • Effective management and oversight of Property Budgets
  • Management and Monitoring of performance of staff in line with KPI’s

About the Programme:
The PIC Graduate Development Programme (GDP) is designed to empower recent graduates with
comprehensive knowledge, skills, and real-world exposure in asset and investment management,
with a specific focus on the pivotal role that the PIC plays in the economy. This structured programme
aims to cultivate a pipeline of capable investment professionals, ultimately transforming the
landscape of the asset management sector.

Area of specialisation and qualifications:

Qualifying Criteria:
▪ Applicants must be South African Citizens
▪ Obtained a 60% pass in each module and an overall average of the most recent results.
▪ Have no work experience in the field of study and have not participated in any
graduate/leadership programme.
▪ A strong desire to work in financial services (asset and investment management)
▪ Proven record of academic excellence.
▪ Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
