Komatsu Reman is seeking an experienced Artisan Electrician to join their dynamic team at the Reman Factory. The preferred candidate should have at least 3 years post trade experience on heavy earthmoving equipment within the mining industry and a relevant trade certificate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• A qualified Artisan Electrician (heavy current) with a Grade 12/N3 Technical Certificate/equivalent mandatory
EXPERIENCE:
• 3 Years’ experience on related earth-moving equipment.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
• Exposure to earth moving machinery
• Have good trouble shooting knowledge on machines & familiar with standard tool requirements
• Computer literate
• Good understanding of maintenance philosophy
• Good communication and inter-personal skills
• Valid driver’s license.
Job Specification:
• Remains up to date with health and safety procedures.
• Participates in planning of health and safety events and campaigns, take SHE into account in the planning of work output. Conducts hazard identification and risk assessment.
• Implement the Komatsu Way 5S sorting, organising, cleaning, ordering, and training.
• Plans for health check and inspection of equipment.
• Informs the leadership of the work steps and technical issues.
• Conducts visual machine/equipment inspection – health condition, breakdowns.
• Conduct general inspection in terms of appearance, damage, or missing components.
• Inspect for leakages, check machine operations, check rust, check for wrong or missing parts, download machine data, identify cracks visually, take samples (oil, coolants, etc.)
• Test and adjust faulty components/parts/systems.
• Monitors the functionality of the component/equipment and progress made.
• Reports inspection results, as well as any abnormalities or damage.
• Provide feedback regarding continuous improvement/suggestion to manager.
• Apply judgement in the replacement or re use of parts.
• Gain technical advice or approval to replace a part/component.
• Execute mechanical/electrical repairs.
• Clean equipment/parts/component.
• Plans for service of equipment with regards to date, workshops, nominations of service, stock, and other resources.
• Assess work/materials/items/parts required to resolve problem.
• Obtain technical advice on complex repairs.
• Obtains relevant manuals and resources and makes this available for execution of work.
• Checks that tools/equipment required for work are available and in good working order.
• Remains abreast of changes/decisions implemented with regard to key issues/problems/improvement.
• Orders parts and consumables as per plan.
• Executes overhaul of equipment according to procedure.
• Inspect equipment for compliance and quality.
• Reports on overhaul job statistics, problems, issues and product feedback.
• Conduct fault finding
• Measure and compare readings – gauges, multi meters, heat guns, etc. to specifications.
• Identify abnormalities using five senses.

INTRODUCTION:
Komatsu South Africa, has an opportunity for a Parts Deman Planner for the Parts Distribution Centre (PDC) in Germiston. The candidate should have a diploma / degree / NQF level 6 in Supply chain and logistics. The candidate should have at least 2 – 4 years relevant experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree / NQF level 6 / Diploma in Supply chain and logistics with emphasis on Inventory management
EXPERIENCE:
- 2-4 years’ experience parts inventory stock planning and Supplier inventory orders
- Komatsu product knowledge an advantage
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
- SAP ordering, SAP- BI, MS word, and Ms Excel, Inventory Demand Planning,
- Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge.
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:
- Parts inventory stock planning and Supplier inventory orders
- Monitors Branch usage patterns and aligns the planning of orders accordingly.
- Monitors and checks data integrity of SAP data vs Excel
- Maintains the master schedule for planning sequence and lead times to meet parts requirements for defined categories of stock.
- Stays updated on where parts are in the process.
- Monitors the integrity of stock data.
- Reports on stock data – obsolete items, problems with inefficient ordering patterns, suggestions for improvement, etc.
- Report issues and problems immediately.
- Obtains planned stock orders
- Checks & maintains inventory before ordering
- Orders inventory parts stock from suppliers
- Updates and maintains filing systems of source documents.
- Checks that all required information is included with new stock requests and that it is set up and maintained in the new system accurately.
- Developing effective forecast models based on industry trends and demand patterns.
