Accountant

We are a professional accounting firm looking for a dynamic, independent, experienced and skilled accountant for a fully remote position.

Responsibilities inlcude :

  • Monthly accounting records up to trial balance, for a range of clients in different industries.
  • VAT processing, reconciliation, submission of VAT201 and VAT audits. Solid understanding of VAT legislation.
  • Payroll processing, process salary journals in accounting records, submission of EMP201 and EMP501 returns.
  • Debtor and creditor reconciliations.
  • Fixed asset maintenance.
  • Client liaison and collaboration.
  • Annual accounting records for annual clients including all reconciliations and necessary preparations and journals for AFS.

Qualifications/experience :

  • Completed SAICA/SAIPA articles
  • At least 5 years post-article experience.
  • Fully proficient in Sage One (accounting and payroll), Draftworx, MS, E-Filing, U-Filing, ROE

Competencies

  • Experience in Pastel Partner accounting software

Daily Duties

  • Check authenticity of invoices/claims and make sundry day to day payments to suppliers and others
  • Raise invoices and follow up on amounts due from clients
  • Process and reconcile the Bank Accounts, Credit Cards and Petty cash payouts and Cash/Credit Control Accounts, and ensure all the slips are attached

  • Ensure all Open Documents are reconciled monthly and outstanding reconciling items are followed up on and resolved.
  • Ensure all loan accounts between the various entities reconcile and are all up to date.

Salaries

  • Prepare the salaries schedule
  • Process the salaries onto the Payroll System
  • Ensure all salaries are loaded and ready for payment by due date

  • Ensure that annual payments for Provisional Tax, Income Tax, and W.C.A. are paid on time

Office Management

  • To attend to and manage the office and ensure it is always clean and presentable

Key Purpose

Key Purpose

Define the project scope:

  • Listen for, uncover, and resolve misunderstandings or disagreements about the scope.
  • Ensure all portfolio resources understand the scope as well as how it will affect other projects within the portfolio.

Project Planning and Scheduling:

  • Work with the team to identify and schedule all the work required to fulfil the scope:
  • Understand what constitutes an end-to-end, thorough cross functional schedule for the project and involve stakeholders as appropriate to create a valid plan; be able to discuss risk areas and convey impacts to scope or costs if a shorter schedule is demanded.
  • Plan the project(s) in sufficient detail to ensure integration of all activities, identification of cross-portfolio dependencies, and understanding of critical paths and key milestones.

Key Purpose

Asset location and identification management

  • Is responsible for maintaining on an ongoing basis the physical tagging of each SAIPA asset.
  • Ensuring that such assets are in existence at all times.

Maintaining the Fixed Assets register:

Cost Analysis:

  • Assisting the CMAM in preparing the annual income and expenditure budgets on a monthly basis per department for submission to the Executive and Board for approval.

Key Purpose

Business Operations:

  • Administer the department’s activities, functions, and interventions, including all SCM processes for the department.

  • Enhance the administration system and contribute to process development for the Sales and Marketing Department.

  • Assist in managing events from inception to post-event deliverables.
  • Liaise with speakers and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with coordinating teams and logistics during events.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and districts in arranging and attending career exhibitions.
  • Assist with NAMO and other exhibitions as required.

Branding and promotional material:

  • Act as custodian of branding and promotional stock.
  • Update and review stock items and requirements.
  • Manage and distribute all brand, stock, and promotional items to each district and for events.
  • Ensure that all SAIPA events have a stand with professional graphics, promotional items, AV, and collateral for exhibition stands, as well as necessary staff support.
  • Assist in managing the production and distribution of SAIPA brand material and marketing collateral

CSR:

  • Coordinate and manage CSR activities and communication.
