Senior Project Accountant

To provide the Marketing department with timeous accurate and complete operational and financial information in support of supply chain excellence.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Financial Management –
Perform balance sheet reconciliations, manage contracts within budget, maximise return on investment/ assets, internally optimize sales mix, monitor GPs daily, perform strategic evaluation of new products and promotions to drive new business, analyse and report back on guild subsidy utilized on promotions versus sales upliftment and product ROI. Participate in manufacturer income supplier negotiations to optimize income. Monitor and manage supplier variable rebates and trade terms in order to maximise annual overriders, evaluate the financial impact on working capital/ profit of strategic buy-ins.
Budget and Cost Control –
Review monthly variable costs against budget, build operational efficiencies through continuous improvement, provide financial guidance to department, analyse effectiveness of promotions, control capex in line with C/O requirements. Monitor, recon and report back on overall guild budget utilization on a monthly basis.
Reporting –
Report weekly/ monthly financial flash reports and review forecasts with cost centre owners.
People and Leadership –
Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, support the development of a high-performance culture, measure financial KPA’s of department management, provide leadership in line with company values, manage and lead a small team.
Ad-hoc Projects –
Perform any finance related projects as requested by the Divisional Finance Executive and/or Marketing Executive.
Minimum requirements
- CA (SA) qualification essential.
- Five years relevant working experience as a Financial Manager within the FMCG environment advantageous.
- Team player with good interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent planning, organizing, time management, analytic and problem-solving skills.
- Assertive, decisive and diplomatic.
- Ability to translate business strategy into tactical plans in relation to financial objectives.
- Detailed understanding of the processes and systems within supply chain operations.
- Understanding of revenue versus cost relationship and ability to translate into a flexible budget,
- Ability to develop a working knowledge and understanding of supplier, retailer and service provider businesses and impact on customer service.
- Willingness to work flexible hours in line with business requirements.

Job description
To ensure timeous preparation of payroll, employees are remunerated in accordance with legislation as well as collective agreements.
Key Performance Areas:
- Salaries: processing salaries for the company for various staff categories: permanent, fixed term & contractors.
- Leave through ESS system: managing the entire leave process –processing, monitoring, and reporting.
- Loading of staff expense claims EFT payments.
- Loading EFT file for net salary payments.
- Maintain system database: load new employees, update records, process terminations and transfers and any other changes.
- Printing and distributing payslips and dealing with payroll queries.
- Processing yearly increases and bonuses.

- ESS System for leave management.
- Good understanding of payroll principles and practice (policies and procedures).
- Working knowledge of employees’ tax legislation.

- Knowledge of benefits administration, legislative deductions, and 3rd party administration.
- Accuracy, speed, and attention to detail.
- Strong literacy and numeric skills.
