Job Advert Summary

Ensure proper Service Asset and Configuration Management and optimum utilisation and maintenance of IT assets by Rand Water for the duration of the full life cycle of the asset. To ensure the optimum utilization of all Rand Water’s DTIM assets by introducing asset life cycle management from asset purchase through to disposal. This will include advising on lease vs buy options, maintaining asset registers and Configuration Management System, controlling, and tracking the movement of IT assets, tracking changes on configuration items, compiling, and maintaining registers detailing supply, maintenance and licensing contracts, monitoring and managing external contractors against SLA’s, monitoring and managing the section’s performance against internal SLA’s, compiling and enforcing policies that will safeguard Rand Water’s assets.  The successful applicant with his/her team of DTIM Assets Coordinators will be responsible for taking delivery of new assets, preparing the assets in a staging area for deployment to users within the organisation, authorising payment for receipted goods, receiving old assets for temporary storage, repair or disposal, and establishing and managing the storage, repair or disposal processes

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science/BTech IT National diploma
  • Experience with configuration management tools.
  • Experience managing complex IT projects.
  • 5 Years Relevant Experience
  • Understanding of Service Management Processes
  • Experience on discovery tools and integration with CMDB would be a definite asset.
  • Experience or knowledge of Software Asset Management (SAM) tooling would be an asset.
  • 3 years’ experience in software inventory and licensing management
  • 3 years’ IT technical experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience in IT asset management including software inventory and licensing management.
  • Experience in Service Desk functions.
  • Accounting / auditing experience
  • Project Management experience
  • Data and information analysis experience
  • IT technical experience and certification (A+ and N+)
  • Experience with SAP Application (i.e., Creating requisitions)
  • Driver’s license

Primary Duties

  • Tracking and controlling all DTIM assets and configuration by creating and updating registers of assets, policies, contracts, renewal dates, maintenance schedules, databases/tools, procedures, standards, decommissioning plans, and release plans.
  • Develop appropriate asset and configuration management policies and manage DTIM assets and configuration according to policies.
  • Undertake projects in the service management portfolio.
  • Management suppliers and report on their performance against SLA i.e., contract management
  • Ensure that the staging area is effectively managed.
  • Track all DTIM assets and configuration.

To offer IT/OT services and providing support for the software, hardware, telecommunications, and all related equipment’s to all Technology end-users. role is to support the stable operation of the computer network. This includes installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links while ensuring minimal network downtime. Diagnose, resolve, and document hardware and software network problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training and support where required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • National Diploma/B degree in Information Technology/IT qualifications
  • Driver’s license
  • 5years experience and knowledge in IT Set up configuration and testing of new desktops/laptops to user requirements, ensuring network connectivity where required and recapture of old data where required

Added advantage qualifications & experience

  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user workstation hardware, software, networked peripheral devices, cabling, and networking hardware and software products.
  • Maintain security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Maintain all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, and UPSs.
  • Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
  • Provide desktop support by installing all IT desktops
  • Configuring and installing all Rand Water Standard software on to computers and mobile devices.
  • Offer technical support to users on desktops, laptops and mobile devices and network connectivity.
  • Support the Microsoft Applications and other client software programs as approved within Rand Water.
  • Setting up users on Network and ensuring all specifications are met.
  • Setting or resetting user passwords.
  • Making sure that printing is available for all the users
  • Making sure that all IT related policies are applied all the time
  • Manage and maintain a virus free network by ensuring that the Anti-virus is up to date all the times and responsible for all security issues.
  • Applying operating system updates, patches and configuration changes
  • Perform daily systems back-ups, by ensuring that all backups have successfully ran and are taken off-site.
  • Monitor wide and local area networks.
  • Detect and repair faults on LAN/WAN, PC’s, peripherals, network points and software.
  • Liaise with users on requests/faults and technical queries.
  • Install and support software/applications.
  • Monitor and connect IP Telephony and Video Conferencing
  • Making sure that all the IT assets are registered in the assets register by Create/maintain inventory of all assets.
  • Rolling out new software for a standardised environment
