Responsible for developing high-yielding, disease-resistant, and high-quality Malt barley varieties through advanced breeding techniques. The role involves extensive fieldwork, laboratory research, data analysis, and collaboration with other scientists, producers, and industry stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct genetic research to identify traits beneficial for barley cultivation.
  • Develop and implement breeding programs aimed at improving barley varieties.
  • Utilize molecular breeding techniques, such as marker-assisted selection, to enhance breeding efficiency.
  • Design and manage field trials to evaluate the performance of different barley genotypes.
  • Analyze data from field trials to assess yield, disease resistance, and other agronomic traits.
  • Conduct controlled environment experiments to study barley growth and development.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret genetic, phenotypic, and agronomic data.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of breeding activities and experimental results.
  • Prepare technical reports, research papers, and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other plant breeders, geneticists, agronomists, and pathologists.
  • Work closely with farmers, seed companies, and agricultural extension services to ensure the adoption of new barley varieties.
  • Participate in industry conferences, workshops, and seminars to stay updated on the latest research and developments in barley breeding.
  • Plan and manage breeding projects, including budgeting, resource allocation, and timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Stay abreast of advancements in breeding technologies, genomics, and biotechnology.
  • Implement new technologies and methodologies to improve breeding efficiency and outcomes.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Minimum a M.Sc. in Plant Breeding/Genetics.
  • Experience:
    • Several years of experience in plant breeding, preferably with barley or other cereal crops will be preferred
    • Experience in molecular breeding techniques and data analysis tools.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of plant genetics, breeding methods, and crop physiology.
    • Proficiency in statistical analysis software and breeding management tools. (Agrobase, Genovics, R etc)
    • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
    • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Work Environment:

  • Combination of fieldwork, laboratory research, and office tasks.
  • Travel to research sites, farms, and industry events will be required.

PPM Analyst

The key purpose of this role is to execute identified efficiencies in Value creation and is accountable to deliver on the continuous improvement on results by supporting the PPM Manager in identifying opportunities for reporting, automation and driving implementation of strategies to close gaps

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a 1-year budget planning for Technology pack and 5 pack
  • Monthly tracking, monitor, and analyze ZBB performance, develop plans to close gaps
  • Put together monthly reports and presentation decks for senior leadership
  • Preparation of journals, ensuring that journals are accurately and timeously processed in line with DAG
  • Administer and timeously clear all open items in SAP to ensure a healthy ageing status
  • Assist the team to meet weekly and monthly targets and all relevant SLA’s and KPI’s

Annual Plan / Budget includes, but are not limited to:

  • Deliver on the budgeting process for ZBB across Tech, ensuring that all deadlines, milestones and submission requirements are met
  • Perform budget calculations based on the facts and figures provided and provide accurate ZBB calculations by package
  • Identify cost savings initiatives
  • Support PPM Manager in preparing management review presentations, respecting Zone guidelines, templates and timelines

  • Prepare month end close in line with Control guidelines and timelines

  • Identify opportunities to continuously improve results
  • Identify risks, respective root causes and create gap-closing plans
  • Monthly meeting with stakeholders to close out monthly LEs

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree, CIMA / CA (SA) or progress towards (preferred)
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in FMCG environment

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Onsite IT and OT Support Specialist to provide technical assistance and support for our organization’s information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of computer hardware, software, networking, and operational technology systems

Main Purpose or Function of the Position

Be able to effectively drive high value brand performance reporting in a fast-paced and dynamic corporate environment. Their goal will be to drive brand growth through cross collaboration within different  departments, be responsible for mentoring and upskilling other junior analysts, as well as identifying opportunities for process improvement and driving overall departmental excellence.

MainAccountabilities:

  • Coordinate reporting efforts (paid, earned, owned) to optimize digital performance for brands within portfolio of work.
  • Act as the brand reporting custodian to develop integrated insights and  recommendations which drive digital performance.
  • Identify ways to pair digital brand performance tracking and key brand metrics such as power scores.
