Role Description

Use the correct tools and equipment for cleaning drilling holes according to standard operating
procedures.
Assists the Operator: Bolter Rig with the transportation of drill steel and other equipment to the drill
site.
Assist with visual inspections of Bolter Rig Equipment according to departmental procedure to
minimize breakdowns and production losses by reporting abnormalities according to procedure.
Assists in installing temporary support in areas where drilling is to take place.
Assist the operator in connecting up the dust extraction system to the rig’s power supply and repair
any leaks to the compressor air hose system and pump to drain water during drilling operation.
Follow work instructions and orders.
Assist the Operator during services of the machine.
Adhere to any general instruction that may be issued by the supervisors in the event machines are not
in operation.
Daily attendance at work is essential.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements
Supervise team under area of responsibility
Control the waiting place activities and fix any defects or breaches of regulations to maintain the
waiting place in healthy and safe working conditions.
Complete, monitor and keep a daily shift attendance register and submit at Time and Attendance office
at end of shift.
Hold start of shift talks daily with subordinates with regard to safety and the development schedule for
the shift.
Supervise and ensure that inspections and pre-start checks on equipment and machines are carried
out on a shift basis as per laid down procedures.
Ensure that all crew members are at work at start of shift and leave the working place to proceed to

Comply with all safety aspects of the drilling, charging, blasting and cleaning cycle procedures
applicable in area of responsibility
Keep record of and report to supervisor all equipment for repairs, damages and losses. Assist in making the area safe by barring and installing temporary supports, under supervision.
Assist in preparing explosive charges, as per standard procedures.
