Job summary: To manage the regional observation infrastructure performance through effective
maintenance, upgrade, and calibration of Observing Networks to enable system availability and data
integrity
Key Performance Areas:
Products, Service Delivery / Infrastructure maintenance:
- Ensure data availability from remote Observation Networks such as Automatic weather
stations, RADAR, Lightning Detection Network, Automatic Rainfall stations, conforming to
approved organizational targets. - Accurately diagnoses and repairs faulty equipment to enable network availability.
- Undertakes continuous monitoring of Observing Networks and evaluate system performance.
- Implements the Inspection Programme for Observing Networks to maintain data integrity.
- Liaises with Commercial Clients on AWS installation and maintenance matters.
- Identifies new sites in the expansion of network areas and prepares proposals for approval by
Regional Manager. - Compiles the infrastructure demand plan for the region, with support from Meteorological
Technicians. - Coordinates infrastructure replacement requests with Technical Services.
- Ensures calibration and testing of meteorological equipment as and when necessary.
- Coordinates the incoming and outgoing of meteorological equipment.
- Ensures that reactive and non-reactive maintenance is attended to within the stipulated
timeframes as directed by Technical Services and the Line Manager.
Innovation, Process Improvement & Revenue Generation:
- Monitors adherence to EQS processes to enable certification of equipment of Observing
Networks. - Participates in the planning and directs the implementation of decommissioning and recommissioning of the weather observation systems.
- Provides analysis and recommendations on asset life cycles.
- Analyse current techniques and technologies used in the collection and processing of data to
ensure the best practices are used and applied consistently across the board. - Develops maintenance processes for Observing Networks.
- Develops business continuity plans to ensure availability of systems.
Administration, Governance, Risk & Compliance:
- Prepares infrastructure status reports for Regional Manager a daily basis.
- Monitors MOU with Site Owners to ensure fulfilment of contractual obligations.
- Prepares specification for procurement of technical equipment.
- Proactively orders Weather observation infrastructure spares to prevent work disruptions.
- Ensure the availability of the relevant Standard Operating Procedures, and that the junior
personnel are well inducted on these also have easy access to them and comply accordingly. - Ensure Compliance with designated national and international standards.
- Analyse and interpret regional infrastructure performance through monitoring and evaluation.
Where applicable implement corrective actions. - Ensures strict adherence to SHEQ policies and procedures.
- Monitor the Risk Register and ensure the implementation of identified risks mitigation actions.
- Participate in various regional audits and ensure that all audit findings are addressed
- Compiles monthly, quarterly and annual status reports on Observing Networks for submission
to Regional Manager. - Give input on budget planning.
- Assist the region and SCM with sourcing of local suppliers.

performance. - Develop Capacity and capability required to sustain/ maintain observations infrastructure ion

Minimum Requirements and Attributes:
- BTech in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Light Current) or equivalent.
- At least 5 years’ experience within Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent
environment. - Code EB or Code 08 (without endorsements).

Job Summary
This role is an integral member of the HCM team that implements and monitor the delivery of
the Human Capital Management strategy and collaborates with various departments to
ensure the SAWS’ Employee Value Proposition is clearly articulated and implemented.
Key Performance Areas:
- Implementation of the HCM’s Annual Performance Plan (APP) and projects
- Assist employees and line managers with the interpretation of HR policies and Procedures
- Keep abreast of new developments in the HCM environment to ensure that SAWS provides
world-class solutions and programmes while complying with the relevant legislation - Managing the boarding process due to the employee’s incapacity
- Drive HR initiatives and projects
- Support HR Business Partners on processes and decisions relating to grievances, performance
and disciplinary actions - To assist with the implementation, monitoring and reporting on specific employee wellness
needs to assist with increase productivity, boost morale and reduce stress, and assist
employees to make smart and healthy choices aligned to the organisation’s safety culture. - Together with the Communications team, coordinate the SAWS’ Annual Long Service and

the submission of the requisite monthly headcount reports to the provider within the agreed
timeframes on the SLA - Together with the SAWS’ Employee Wellness Service Providers, coordinate the SAWS’ Annual
Wellness Days across all offices - Leading projects and/or contributing to HCM projects and be part of the cross-functional team.
- Manage the annual process of the Declaration of Interest by employees, including the
submission of related RFI’s to auditors - Conduct exit interviews for terminated employees
- Assist HR Business Partners during internal and external audits
- Manage the SAWS’ recruitment portal, liaising with ICT for fault reporting and any upgrades
that are required - Preparation of interview packs and forwarding the interview schedule to reception
- Preparation of the appointment letters and drafting of employment contracts
- Liaise with the HRBPs to consolidate and submit weekly recruitment status reports
- Address medical, pension fund and employee wellness related queries from the HRBPs and
other SAWS’ employees. - Be the point of contact for HR related queries from both internal and external clients within

- Collaborate with the ICT team to ensure the security vulnerability management, access
controls and management of passwords on the Employee Self-Service System (ESS) as well as

Minimum Requirements and Attributes
- Degree in Human Resources Management
- A minimum of 3 years relevant experience

- Knowledge of the Labour Relations, Basic Conditions of Employment, Skills Development,

Integrated Learning Programme.
We are looking for TVET College Learners to join our Work Integrated Learning Programme in the
following field:
- Management Assistant N6 – 1 Position – Ref: GRC 2024
- Public Management N6 – 1 Position – Ref: COMMS 2024
Applicants must satisfy the following requirements:
- An applicant must have just completed an N6 in the above-mentioned field of study.
- An applicant has been unemployed for a period of less than one-year after completion of
the N6. - An applicant will be required to submit their CVs on the SAWS recruitment portal (clearly
outline ID, Address etc.) - Must not have work experience.
Successful candidates:
- Will be paid monthly stipend of R5500.
- Will be responsible for arranging their own accommodation and transport to the
respective SAWS Centurion offices
