Infection Prevention Control and Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator

Role summary
The role of the Infection Prevention Control Coordinator is to aid and assist hospital employees in the
management of prevention, identification and control of infections in patients and staff. The incumbent will
further be responsible to plan, develop and implement an infection control programme for the hospital
using basic infection control standards.

The key purpose of the Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator will be to contribute and support the
development and maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment, by implementing and monitoring
OHS and Waste activities to continuously improve OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) and Waste
Management. This includes but are not limited to:

  • The identification of key risks and critical risk controls;
  • Identifying and analysing training needs,
  • Designing, conducting and evaluating training and
  • Coordinating and/or Managing OHS and waste administrative processes
  • Effectively using a range of OHS tools and processes to implement OHS and Waste programs and
    drive compliance
  • To design, develop and implement innovative site-level activities to improve OHS and Waste

    infections in patients and staff.
  • Plan, develop and implement an infection control programme for the hospital using basic infection
    control standards.
  • Responsible to the hospital management for reporting on a regular basis all infections in the hospital.
  • Review of environmental hygiene, cleanliness, the care of linen and waste on a regular basis and
    document results for discussion with hospital management.
  • Identify indications for environmental microbiological monitoring.
  • Enforce staff dress code within and on leaving the Hospital.
  • Enforce hand hygiene and bare below elbows.
  • Facilitate effective change and conflict management.
  • Orientation of new staff and students.
  • Manage and ensure the facilitation of Infection Control as a topic in the hospital orientation
    programme at all levels and document attendance of training.
  • Oversee the development and facilitation of Infection Control in-service training programmes based
    on a needs analysis and evaluate the training regularly.
  • Manage and ensure the introduction of a programme for the use of new products and equipment
    from an infection control viewpoint.
  • Prepare, present or co-ordinate educational workshops, lectures, discussion, orientation programs
    and individual discussions on a variety of infection prevention and control topics.
  • Provide information on the topic to patients, family and general public when required.
  • Active involvement in own professional development to maintain a satisfactory level of skill and

Work experience

  • Intermediate computer proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Previous exposure to financial budgeting

Ward Administrator (NICU)

Pharmacy Stork Clerk – Fixed Term Contract

 Capture data of goods received onto Netcare Stock System and produce related GRV

Pharmacy stock controller

The Stock Controller is responsible for maintaining optimal stock levels at all times within the

service. This individual will ensure that stock management KPI’s and targets are met on a monthly
basis. The Stock Controller must ensure compliance to all Netcare stock related policies and
procedures, maintain good working relationships and fulfil work requests to ensure the achievement
of divisional goals and the compliance of Netcare standards.

The Stock Controller will be required to work in various different areas of the hospital and to
multitask effectively based upon periods of peak activity in the business. This individual will not be
allocated to work only in one division of the business but will provide the required assistance to
various different hospital divisions in line with the Netcare strategy of Person centred Health and
care. The support provided will depend on hospital requirements and therefore the individual may
need to adhere to work requests that may change continuously based on business demand and to
adhere to variations in working hours to increase business productivity.

Inherent Requirements
 Grade 12 or equivalent NQF 4 certificate.
 Basic stores and stock control certificate (BSSC)
 Principles of production and inventory management (PPIM)
 SAP Knowledge advantageous
 Previous experience in stock management.

Senior Pharmacist

Role summary
The Pharmacist will be responsible for the provision of medication and supplementary services to patients
and members of the healthcare team.
The incumbent will also assume responsibility for meeting patients’ needs in a responsible, satisfactory and
cost-effective manner.

Key work output and accountabilities
 Dispense prescriptions (hospital and retail)
 Ensure maximum safety of patients by providing advice on the appropriate selection, dosage and drug
interaction, potential side effects and therapeutic effects of medicines
 Prepare, issue and control all oncology drugs according to Pharmacy policies and procedures
 Act as custodian for the management of Schedule 5 & 6 drugs as per legal requirements
