GENERAL WORKERS-WATER AND SANITATION NETWORK (PERMANENT) X6

DIRECTORATE: TECHNICAL SERVICES
DIVISION : WATER AND SANITATATION

SALARY : R117 564.00 (POST LEVEL: 3)
NB: One General worker will be based in Majeng.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / POST REQUIREMENTS
 Ability to read, write and count.
 6 Months experience
 No criminal record.

KNOWLEDGE
 Good interpersonal and communication skills

 Attention to detail

COMPETENCIES
The successful applicant /candidate must possess competencies as published in Annexure A of the
Local Government Municipal Staff Regulations of 20 September 2021.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
a) Turning off the relevant stopcocks on main water pipelines using a stopcock key, if necessary.
b) Cutting through concrete or tarred surfaces above relevant water pipe s using a jackhammer or
angle grinder or removing paving bricks, if necessary.
c) Digging the relevant water pipes open using a pickaxe and / or a shovel.
d) Pumping leaked water out of the trench / hole using a small / mobile petrol water pump or scoop
it out with a bucket.
e) Unscrewing joints or cutting pipes remove broken pipes or old leaking joints and replace it with
new pipe sections with the aid of short collar joints or new other joints or installing cascade collars
to stop leakages using spanners and other necessary hand tools.
f) Digging the relevant main water pipes open and trenches for new water service or irrigation pipes
connections using a jackhammer, pickaxe and / or a shovel.
g) Installing saddles, poly-cop water pipes and water meters for new water service connections and
PVC pipes for irrigation connections using the necessary hand tools.
h) Installing bulk water meters, pressure valves, stopcocks, fire hydrants on relevant main water pipes
using the necessary hand tools.

i) Opening and cleaning blocked up strainers of relevant water meters using the necessary hand
tools.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / POST REQUIREMENTS

 At-Least 1-2 relevant experience;
 Physically fit
 No Criminal Record
 A Valid Driver`s License

KNOWLEDGE
 Knowledge of basic safety procedures;
 Ability to operate basic electrical. Mechanical hand tools;
 Ability to work in a team;
 Must be able to speak, read and write in at-least two official languages of the Northern
Cape.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
 Required to enter confined areas, work at heights and work in all weather conditions
 Required to work outside normal working hours during emergencies and planned overtime;
 Required to perform activities associated with the construction and installations of
medium/low voltage electrical networks.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Providing support to the Electrician during installations, repairs and maintenance;
Attending to preparation of work site (e.g Loading / Off Loading of Equipments, tools, erection and
installation sequence of poles. Digging trenches, etc)
Preparing materials and tools for operational and maintenance tasks;
Cleaning of Tools, Vehicle, Equipments, Sites, Work-bays and Workshops
Storing of Tools and Equipments in a safe and appropriate manner;
Receiving instruction from the Immediate Supervisor on the layout and the execution of specific
work sequence;

FINANCE INTERN X1

STIPEND: R120000 PER ANNUM
PERIOD: TWO YEARS INTERNSHIP CONTRACT

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/POST REQUIREMENTS  Applicants must be in possession of a completed three year B.Com Degree with majors in
Accounting, Economics, Internal Audit or Financial management.  Internal Audit and/or Risk Management will be an added advantage.  Must be unemployed  No experience required;  Reasonable written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy are further
requirements.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES – The incumbent will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer; – Assist with the completion and implementation of the National Treasury Budget
Reform Programme or Municipal Budget; – Develop statistical reporting modules and electronic capturing of all data in all sections
of Financial Management;

The incumbent`s performance will be regularly monitored and assessed by the Chief Finance
Officer
