Data Network Engineer

Job title: Data Network Engineer

Location: Gaborone

Data Network Engineer

Reporting to the Data Network Lead, the incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing B2B solutions, supporting and maintaining network configurations in Orange Botswana’s IP network and ensuring high-quality service for B2B customers.



The main duties include but are not limited to:

  • Design, implement and commission B2B customer solutions and projects within the stipulated time-to-market (TAT).
  • Document and manage all solutions delivered to corporate customers and all changes that are done on the customer side.
  • Record all modifications and solutions offered on the service platforms to ensure business continuity.
  • Transfer developed solutions and products to operational team.
  • Conduct comprehensive technical end-to-end testing of B2B solutions and projects.
  • Provide comprehensive first and second level support for corporate IP nodes.
  • Report and follow up on faults that occur on all Corporate IP systems including faults under B2B customers.
  • Ensure best-in-class service and experience for B2B Customers.
  • Ensure standards, integrity of the Corporate IP Network and alignment with long term strategy based on network architecture design and guidelines.
  • Ensure 24/7 system availability, performance, backup, and recovery on all corporate IP platforms and customer networks.
  • Collaborate with Managed Service providers to analyse and resolve issues on Corporate IP Platforms.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to manage changes, updates, upgrades, patch installations and any other operational activities.
  • Design, Implement, and Commission VAS Services for B2B Customers, and issue  acceptance documents.
  • Conduct performance maintenance for B2B customer networks and documenting the maintenance work carried out.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors to address any issues requiring third-level support.
  • Provide pre-sales support to B2B customers.

Skills:

  • Very good in IP skills.e.g. routing protocols.
  • Good knowledge of working with switches, firewalls, routers, web-servers, DNS, Cache and related protocols.
  • Competencies in Linux.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and work under pressure.
  • Customer Oriented.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Masters or Degree in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications or Computer Science.
  • 2-3 year’s experience in a telecommunications, ISP or IT environment.

Reporting to the Talent Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a highly effective and efficient hiring and onboarding process and to manage employee growth and performance.


Main duties:

  • Liaise with Directors & middle managers to develop and market compelling role profiles.
  • Screen CV’s, introduce assessment tools for candidates and manage interview processes to fill in vacant roles timely.
  • Oversight of the Onboarding program to support successful integration into the company and a swift ramp up in terms of productivity.
  • Support in developing growth & succession plans for key people in the business.
  • Support in designing and delivering initiatives to retain talent and build a highperformance culture.
