St Andrew’s College invites applications for the role of Director of Advancement. This executive-level position, reporting directly to the
Headmaster and the College Council, offers a rare opportunity to lead a key strategic department, and influence the future of the school.
As Director of Advancement, you will oversee and drive critical areas including Communications and Marketing, Public Relations, Admissions,
Fundraising and Development, Archival Management, Alumni and other Stakeholder Relations, Donor Stewardship and Special Projects, including our upcoming 175th Anniversary celebrations.
This position is integral to shaping the financial sustainability and future direction of St Andrew’s College. The Director of Advancement will be responsible for articulating the vision and mission of the school to a diverse range of stakeholders, including alumni, parents, Council members, and staff, while providing leadership in the development and execution of strategic plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and expand the Advancement Department to support the school’s long-term goals.
- Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising initiatives that align with the institution’s mission and ensure excellent donor stewardship.
- Build and nurture relationships across the corporate, donor, and alumni networks.
- Manage communications and marketing strategies to enhance the school’s reputation and outreach.

- Manage the collection, cataloguing and curation of our extensive archival material.
- Manage a team of professionals within each of these areas.
- Manage and develop the current information systems and data bases to provide an effective and efficient service offering.

THE CORE FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:
- Have a Level 2, but preferably 3 CSA Coaching Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Have at least 5 years’ cricket coaching experience
- Coaching students.
- Be involved in all areas of the school’s cricket (Grade 0 – 12).
- Coordinate all academy coaching sessions: group/individual.
- Appoint academy coaches as required.
- Act as a link between the Mini, Prep and High School sections, ensuring players are being developed and integrated throughout the system.
- Coordinate and facilitate the Mini Cricket programme (Grade 0 – 2).
- Assist the Prep and High school in their allocation and coordination of coaches as part of the co-curricular component.
- Scout and attract potential cricket players.
- Increase the level of participation in cricket.
- Raise the profile of cricket, through cricket camps, tournaments, festivals and marketing.
- Monitor equipment and facility requirements for cricket and liaise appropriately and timeously for purchasing and maintenance thereof.
- Produce coaching resources for all coaching staff and assist in their development as required.
- Ensure all visiting teams are well hosted.
- Administer the cricket academy budget – liaising closely with the Deputy Principals: Co-Curricular over expenses, coaching expenditure and preparing the annual budget.
- Communicate effectively with parents and pupils.
- Implement, review and update the whole school cricket development plan.
- Develop relationships with local clubs and other schools.
- Attend Titans or other Cricket related meetings as directed or required.
- Have the ability to work with and develop players from different backgrounds across cultural identities.

- oversee delivery of curriculum support (implementation of marking and reporting on baseline and diagnostic assessments; preparation and delivery of 5 hrs of teaching per weekend, 28 weekends per year; with regular assessment and feedback to students);
- compile a 6-monthly report to donors: expenditures (finance department) and programme performance;
- keep track of all assessments and report results to schools;
- make contact with parents of students attending Saturday school;
- budgeting in liaison with the finance department;
- staff wages – timesheets, invoicing and payments (monthly or termly);
- liaise with the marketing department and support initiatives as required;
- interact and build relationships with donors and find potential new donors;
- build and expand the current programme to include more schools and students;
- special attention to early childhood development and the establishment of a formal training programme for teachers in need of an official ECD qualification in collaboration with a university;
- regular contact with partner schools through follow-up visits to discuss matters pertaining to students, academics and general disciplinary issues;
- do marketing in the townships – visit schools to market the programme;
- do career guidance for students and arrange with sponsors to hold events where they inform staff and students about career options and financial support they offer for eligible students.
Competencies:
- Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate and work with other professionals;
- an interest in and experience with Senior School students (Grades 10 – 12) and a knowledge of their developmental stages;
- able to use own initiative, be creative and flexible;

- must have a good understanding of the Curriculum Assessment Policy Statements as defined by the Department of Basic Education;
- business acumen – a clear understanding of budgets and budget planning will be an advantage;
