Job Purpose
South African Airways (SAA) wants you to join the SAA family as a First Officer.
As a First Officer, you will be expected to take all measures required for the safety of the flight, whether on the ground, or inflight, and be expected to perform the duties of a pilot for South African Airways as either a Second-In-Command Pilot (P2) or Cruise Relief Pilot (P3).

Qualifications & Experience
Matric Certificate / Grade 12 results / N3 or relevant tertiary qualifications (SAQA accredited)
Compulsory subjects: Mathematics or Statistics 101 and English (D symbol on higher grade or C symbol on standard grade) coupled with one of the following: Physical Science or Computer Science (D symbol on higher grade or C symbol on standard grade)
Valid South African Airline Transport Pilot’s License, or a Commercial Pilot License having completed all the ground subjects for the ATPL (previously known as a Frozen ATPL). A valid ATPL License must be obtained within 4 years from date of employment with SAA with a multi engine instrument rating
Valid Class 1 medical
A minimum of 1,500 flying hours which includes 200 hours on multi-engine aircraft
Be a South African citizen with a valid Passport
Knowledge and Skills
Must have expertise in the application of safety standards and safe operating practices
Detailed knowledge and understanding of national and international aviation regulations such as CAA, ICAO, IATA, FAA, and EASA
Demonstrate a firm understanding of international travel, international customs and practices etc.

Job Purpose
The role is responsible for ensuring that all safety, health, environmental, and quality standards are strictly adhered to across the organization. This role is integral to the operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and overall sustainability of the company. The incumbent will implement policies that comply with the latest laws and regulations but also manages risk and ensures that the highest levels of workplace safety and environmental integrity are maintained. The role will supervise the quality monitoring processes of the business value chain to ensure adherence to SHEQ and other Food Safety standards.
Furthermore, the role will lead a multidisciplinary team to achieve business objectives for quality, health, safety and environment. The incumbent will development, review and update SHEQ policies and procedures as and when required (i.e. changes in legal or customer requirements) and make recommendations for any changes in operational procedures which will improve safe working conditions.
Principal Accountabilities
Conduct risk evaluations and enforcing preventative measures
Review existing policies and measures and updating them according to legislation
Initiate and manage health and safety procedures in the workplace
Inspect equipment and machinery to verify they meet safety regulations
Manage and organize quality reports, statistical reviews, and relevant documentation
Meet company health and safety goals
Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and manage worker’s compensation claims
Process previous shifts quality reports to compile the QA report and reporting deviances according to organisational requirements
Co-ordinate the quality assessment process in all areas of the business value chain to ensure adherence to HACCP and ISO standards
Continuously monitor and evaluate the processes of the business value chain to ensure adherence to organisational procedures, HACCP, ISO Standards and customer specification/requirements
Provide advice to various internal stakeholders on how to address non conformances based on the relevant HACCP or ISO standards.
Monitor the implementation of corrective actions according to non-conformances raised to ensure adherence
Train various internal/external stakeholders/ service providers on HACCP/Hygiene processes and standards to ensure employees comply to the relevant standards
Compile various reports according to departmental procedures, standards, and legislative requirements
Interpret laboratory results and issue non- conformance in the case of variance from standard to the appropriate department and follow-up on recommended corrective action
Ensure that all records related to the quality management process are maintained according to the requirements of the various quality systems
Perform quality audits according to the audit schedule to confirm overall adherence to organisational and quality systems standards
Assist with external supplier audits to monitor adherence to service level agreements
Oversee the duties of the Sanitation team facility-side by ensuring that staff are properly trained, understand their duties, and follow the guidelines of the company
Ensure that all industrial machines are cleaned according to SOPs and records are kept according to specifications
Maintain sanitation logs and master sanitation schedule, and any other records, charts and reports as needed for auditing and compliance purposes
Stays current on the procedures to clean and sanitize all production equipment facility-wide
Review all CIP and cleaning records shortly after completion to ensure that no irregularities are present
Develop and maintain sanitation related work instructions (cleaning procedures, master sanitation list, pest control programs, etc.)
Recommends cost saving initiatives and controls expenditure within approved parameters
Coordinating with HR to set up a framework for safety inductions and training for all employees
Manages subordinates’ activities to ensure the achievement of targets and standards
Manage time and attendance of sub-ordinates
Assess performance of sub-ordinates and ensure the appropriate ER actions are implemented to correct non-performance
Interprets and monitors trends in occupational health & Environmental programs to ensure alignment with national standards and best practice
Develop, implement and maintain Fire protection program for the organisation to ensure adherence to relevant legislation

Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree at NQF level 7/Diploma at NQF level 6 in Food Science, Environmental Health, Safety Management or Food related field
At least 5 – 8 years’ experience in a airline catering environment within quality assurance
Basic training in Microsoft Office products
HACCP certification or HACCP/ISO, Environmental Management certification

Principal Accountabilities
Strategy Formulation and Implementation
Set the consumer and customer marketing vision for Air Chefs, putting in place insights driven marketing principles
Ensure alignment between corporate strategy, commercial strategy and marketing strategy
Develop a product innovation strategy that delivers consumer-centric innovation, renovation and continuous improvement
Oversee the development and implementation of the sales strategy across current and new channels

Develop Air Chefs brand strategy within the framework of the category strategy with a focus on brand building and new product development activities
