- Degree / NQF level 7 in Environmental Science (with preferably Chemistry, Meteorology,
Atmospheric Science, Climatology). - 7 – 8 years’ experience in Climate experience with 6 years in a middle to senior
management level.
Primary Function:
The job entails the development and implementation of the high-level climate change,
policies, strategies, plans, and programmes and to lead and direct the Climate function
of the City.
Key Performance Areas:
- Manage and oversee the process of leveraging resource (inside and outside city) in order
to advance the development and implementation of the City’s Climate Change Policies,
including the updates thereof, as and when required. - Direct input into the compilation of management reports, so that stakeholders are informed
of progress on performance including relevant other issues of the business unit /
department. - Plan, monitor and control the unit annual operating and budget so that spending is in line
with the municipal requirements and is complaint with the Municipal Financial Management

Primary Function:
Lead, manage and direct the activities responsibilities of catchment management and
water quality in the City of Johannesburg to ensure sustainable management of water
catchment; protection of water resources and integrated urban water resources
management.
Key Performance Areas:
- Direct and guide the design, implement and management of water monitoring programmes
(surface and ground); - Formulation of policies and strategies relating to best practice Catchment Management;
- Ensure the implementation of Catchment Management policies, strategies and regulation
in consultation with other stakeholder and MOE’s; - Coordinate the activities of the Council in respect of Catchment Management , Water
Quality Management and Agencies and Forums for both external and external
