The Program is designed to provide you with extensive exposure to various aspects of the discipline for which you have a tertiary qualification, preparing you to take up a substantive role and grow your career in the business / industry.
We adopt a comprehensive and practical approach to ensure the holistic development of our graduates. As a successful candidate, you will follow a structured development program comprising of:
- A Fixed term contract of 24-48 months;
- Exposure to various aspects of your discipline and rotation across different parts of the business;
- Development in both the technical and behavioural aspects;
- Emphasis on practical exposure, learning from experienced professionals through assignments and coaching, and attending relevant courses and workshops;
To be eligible for the Graduate Development Program, you will meet the following minimum requirements:
- Relevant Degree in Information Technology (Multimedia, Wed Development or Graphic Design), Instructional Design, Educational Technology or Computer Science.
- Experience in MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, After Effects, Premier Pro) and Coding (HTML and CSS).
- Experience in e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Lectora or Adobe Captivate will be advantageous.
- Learning orientation, rule orientation and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Preference will be given to applicants residing in the local communities where Glencore Coal Operations South Africa are located (Nkangala District of the Mpumalanga province – proof of residence to be submitted with application.

We are currently accepting applications for the following position located in Witbank, Mpumalanga.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing an integrated support function for the Contractors Academy to ensure compliance to legislation, company policies, procedures and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Establishing and maintaining a contractor management system for GCSA with specific focus on contractor safety and compliance.
- Supporting the usage of the digital Contractor Management System for tracking the Contractor Management Processes.
- Supporting Contractor Manager’s in performing Safety Verification and Safety Oversight activities of Contractors.
- Establishing a risk-based contractor compliance schedule and performing verification and compliance audits.
- Ensuring adherence and compliance to all relevant HSE requirements.
- Undertaking pre-qualification and routine audits of current and future contractors to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Glencore HSE Standards.
- Establishing and maintaining systems to monitor performance of contactors against the Glencore HSE Standards.
- Identifying and recommending improvement opportunities in contractor management within GCSA.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Safety Management/ Mining / Engineering.
Minimum Experience:
- 2 Years’ experience at a Safety Officer level.
- Contractor management experience will be advantageous.
- Experience with development or implementation of digital contractor management systems will be advantageous.
Behavioural Competencies:
- Ability to drill into the detail of issues to determine root cause whilst considering urgency, importance, risk and reward factors.
- Ability to carefully and objectively analyse and evaluate information to inform decisions and key actions.
- Ability to inspire and foster commitment, pride and trust amongst team members by taking a democratic approach, seeking and valuing contributions and encouraging collaboration.

Superintendent (Electrical)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Relevant tertiary qualification (NQF 6)
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in: – HV switching and maintenance, – Protection schemes; – Electrical installations; Maintenance of HT and LT electrical systems
- Three (3) years’ experience in Middle management position
- Excellent managerial skills and to be self-motivated
- English communication and computer literacy is essential
- Initiative and result orientation
- SAP & Coupa knowledge and experience is essential
JOB OBJECTIVES
In this role you will be responsible to the Manager (Works Engineer)for the following:
- Co-ordination of electrical installations within the plant and during the shutdowns
- Lead and manage the electrical sections
- Performance management of electrical team
- Partake in facilitating problem solving activities by initiating, developing and/or implementing alternatives or improvements to the process within the sphere of responsibility in line with Lion Smelter’s Quality Maintenance principles.
- Compliance to all safety procedures.
- Compilation and control of budget.
- Ensure the OHSA safety and health standards are maintained
- Implement Root Cause Failure Analysis findings
- Continuous improvement on plant equipment as per the required standard.
