Product Developer

Minimum Requirements

Relevant Degree/Diploma in Consumer Science/Food Science/Product Development
4 – 7 years product development experience
Experience in product development in the relevant category is essential
Knowledge of Retail Merchandise principles and proven track record of identifying and launching new categories and repositioning established ranges within specific categories

Key Responsibilities

Develop and effectively implement the Innovation Agenda for the product area by identifying suitable products for new and improved offers to ensure outstanding product deliverables
Develop and launch new products in accordance with the company processes and development criteria
Defined product development process is followed, including products sign offs and Commerical alignment
Ensure the successful launch of all new products, both regionally and nationally within the stipulated launch periods.
Enable factory trials / first packing, production at the suppliers with Food Technologists
Keep abreast of competitor activities, topical issues, current events, food industry, trends and technology
Ensure packaging process is followed, and awareness of sustainability targets
Make recommendations for new attractive on shelf and improved packaging specification to ensure reduction of costs and improved functionality and customers acceptance
Ensure that each new product and process undergoes a comprehensive and documented evaluation
Use outside influences and/or centres of excellence to help drive innovation agenda
Monitor the performance of new and improved products to take the appropriate action for non-performers and evaluate the contribution to improved customer satisfaction as well as the increased profitability of the range     
Monitor sales and profitability of products
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers; demonstrates confidence and expertise when interacting with suppliers
Work with suppliers according to company values.
Communicate regularly with suppliers to mutually share financial and other performance criteria; uses metrics to identify performance gaps.
Develops and implements contingency plans to close development gaps
Analyse work errors, successes and failures in order to sets learning strategies to rectify and increase knowledge; recognise gaps in own skill set, seeks and takes advantage of learning opportunities by applying new learnt skills on the job to enhance effectiveness

Category Buyer

It’s fun to work in a company where people truly BELIEVE in what they’re doing!To compile and execute the category plans in line with the strategy, objectives and category group guidelines on format/margin and assortment strategies. To optimize the performance of the assigned categories by having clear category plans in place that are aligned to the strategy, category group guidelines and being customer focused.

Preferably a Finance degree or related
3-4 years retail experience
Experience in Category Management
Proven and consistent success on financial KPI’s
SAP knowledge and Analysis is essential

Category Strategy
Uses Category internal and external data to develop and recommend business strategies that target category-specific growth
Evaluates merchandising plans and their business impact; makes recommendations for modifying plans based on findings 
Identifies and recommends process improvements that target performance, quality, work efficiency / cost reduction

Category Performance
Uses internal and external data to understand category performance (sales, margin, availability, waste, stock, RTC, strike rates, own brand etc).
Maintains a solid working knowledge of assigned category, industry, and market; uses knowledge of industry practices, business trends, distribution methods, and the competitive environment to develop buying plans
Implements and executes tactical buying plans, ensuring alignment with category-specific growth strategies, as well as Pick n Pay’s overall business strategy

Supplier Relations
Communicates regularly with suppliers to mutually share financial and other performance criteria; uses metrics to identify performance gaps and hold suppliers accountable for achieving financial and other mutually agreed upon goals; develops and implements contingency plans to close performance gaps
Develops and maintains relationships with suppliers; demonstrates confidence and expertise when interacting with suppliers


Private Brand Strategy and Development
Implements and executes Private Brand category strategy, ensuring alignment with category-specific growth strategies, as well as PnP’s overall business strategy

Merchandise Knowledge
Applies knowledge of Pick n Pay’s merchandise and current promotions, price changes, and sales to enhance daily work
Develops merchandising solutions to achieve business goals and influence financial performance
Identifies and applies knowledge of key industry trends and market forces to positively impact merchandising

It’s fun to work in a company where people truly BELIEVE in what they’re doing!Responsible for the creation and administration of site master data, mass data loading for National Administration, and management of Article Master, Pricing Master, and Vendor Master relationship data in collaboration with various teams internally and externally. This role also includes various administrative tasks to support organizational operations. Ensure adherence to policies and procedures within Pick n Pay to maintain data integrity and compliance

Minimum Requirements

Matric

Experience in analysing data and dependent processes and reporting
Relevant tertiary qualification advantageous
Excel Skills
SAP Article Master and Vendor Master Data experience advantageous

Key Responsibilities

Data management
Administer site creation by ensuring that all site take-on forms (STOF) are validated in a timely manner.
Manage data transports between various SAP environments.
Conduct audit checks to ensure data integrity and accuracy in SAP.
Monitor and ensure that IDOCs are addressed daily.
Create and load LSMWs (Legacy System Migration Workbench) for various departments.
Manage and maintain the SAP Hierarchy and CatMan Hierarchy.

Report on team SLA performance.
Provide workload and business reporting.
Respond to support requests internally and externally via email or call logging system.

Maintain Article Master data.
Manage Vendor Master relationship data elements.
