Job Description

RCL Foods is recruiting for a driven, highly energized Despatch Clerk within the baking business unit.

The suitable candidate will be required to ensure accurate stock and crate movement from production to the despatching of trucks and return logistics. To ensure that all paperwork and other transactional duties are completed accurately, timeously and efficiently.

This role will be based in Durban and reporting to the Distribution Manager.

This role is a Permanent role.

Minimum Requirements

Education
Grade 12, Matric pass rate with a maths pass rate 
above 60%

Skills
Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in 
English. 
Good numeracy
Good computer literacy – especially Excel and e-mail 

Experience
1 -2 years experience in a dispatch department
FMCG experience is advantageous
Experience working with JDE advantageous 

Duties & Responsibilities

Stock Management
Verify stock handover from previous shift
Ensure cages are locked
Ensure stock that is pulled from production is signed for by dispatch clerk and production supervisor
Ensure stock is loaded according to company safety standards
Ensure stock is loaded in such a way as to prevent damage to the stock
On vehicle return, count returns and issue credit notes for the driver or customer when Returns Clerk is 
not present
Ensure good stock returns are returned to dispatch cages
Ensure damaged returns are moved to the damage container
Conduct cycle count of stock in dispatch to ensure it balances and provide reasons if not balancing
Accurate receipting and dispatching of confectionary according to SOP

Crate Control
Ensure the integrity of crate movement within JDE
Conduct a crate count of all Sunshine crates on the company premises daily
Report any crate discrepancies to the dispatch supervisor
On vehicle return, count number of crates on the vehicle, enter onto crate sheet and issue crate slip to 
driver

Transactional Duties
Print accumulative sales report and loading sheet 
Give instructions to loaders which stock to be pulled and loaded, quantity and type
Process sales of bread to customers, inclusive of damages
Do cash up on cash sales and balance to invoices
Ensuring the invoices for all drivers and customers are printed correctly and given to drivers once 
vehicle loaded and he’s ready for departure
Transfer stock to reflect accurately on the driver’s route location
Record special requests in request book and give to the production supervisor
Complete handover sheet for next shift and inform next shift clerk about any important information he 
needs to know
