ASSISTANT DOCKMASTER
POSITION: ASSISTANT DOCKMASTER

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To supervise the Synchrolift operations by ensuring efficient and safe docking and undocking processes in compliance with relevant regulations and procedures. This includes optimising resources within the parameters of customer requirements and business objectives to ensure operational
efficiency and sound service delivery for organisational success. The position reports directly to the Dockmaster.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Coordinate and oversee repair and maintenance activities at the Synchrolift, ensuring timely and effective execution.
- Perform administrative tasks associated with Synchrolift operations, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Document and track all damages to company property, ensuring users are appropriately charged for any damage incurred.
- Conduct daily plot work and maintain comprehensive records of time sheets, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Support the docking and undocking of vessels, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
- Assist with Synchrolift operations, including the planning and execution of cradle building, vessel lifting and placement into the sea, and
the parking of vessels at the quay.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- National Vocational Certificate in Millwright, Fitting and Turning or Boiler Making (NQA Level 5) or equivalent recognised qualification.
- Three (3) years relevant marine operational experience.
- Thorough understanding of the Port Marine Safety Code and the associated Guide to Good Practice.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Code BE Driver’s License
CATEGORY 2 (CAT 2) MECHANICAL LIFTING EQUIPMENT OPERATOR X2
POSITION: CATEGORY 2 (CAT 2) MECHANICAL LIFTING EQUIPMENT OPERATOR X2

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To operate Rubber Tired Stack cranes and/or Reach Stackers by moving and placing cargo in designated port areas. The role reports directly to the
Supervisor: General Cargo Operations.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Perform daily safety checks on mechanical lifting/ stacking equipment.
- Operate the Rubber Tired Stack cranes and/or Reach Stackers.
- Adhere to OHSE rules and Legislation to ensure safe operations.
- Account for relevant administrative and reporting duties.
- Maintain equipment and attend to breakdowns.
- Maintain maximum levels of RTG and Reach Stacker productivity.
- Promote sound customer and team relations.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent recognised qualification.
- Four (4) years’ relevant work experience in an operations environment.
- Code 11 Driver’s license.
- Experience operating Mobile Harbor Cranes and Mechanical Lifting and Stacking equipment.
- Time management and problem-solving skills.
- Maintain professional and composed in high pressure situations.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good decision making, judgement and communication skills.
PORT MANAGER: LÜDERITZ
POSITION: PORT MANAGER: LÜDERITZ

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To plan, lead and direct divisional functions at the Port Of Lüderitz through engaged staff and the safe, efficient and effective management of terminal operations to ensure that Namibian,
regional and international customer needs are met and exceeded in accordance with contracted Service Level Agreements (SLA’s), revenue is generated and Namport’s strategic
objectives are attained. The position plays a crucial role in strengthening the competitiveness of the port’s operations within the very dynamic maritime industry, and in creating and
strengthening a positive customer and stakeholder experience, by upholding the highest operational standards, especially with regards to Compliance, Security, Council and
Occupational Health and Safety Practices. The position reports directly to the Executive: Port Operations.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Plan, monitor, direct and manage all port business activities in line with Namport’s strategic objectives and operational plans.
- Lead, mentor and motivate a team of functional professionals within the port to provide exceptional customer services.
- Develop, drive, implement and maintain robust port operational strategies/ plans for improved operational efficiency and service delivery.
- Ensure cost-effective port operations for optimum productivity, turn-around times and to increase profit margins.
- Develop and manage the divisional annual OPEX and CAPEX budget and expenditure.
- Plan and develop functional strategy and business annual plan in support of the Namport’s long, medium- and short-term strategies.
- Maintain positive and trust-based relations with employees, customers, port-users, government authorities and agencies to ensure Namport’s reputation is upheld.
- Monitor and evaluate divisional processes, asset efficiency and productivity trends against planned targets and adjust plans accordingly (daily, weekly, monthly) to
determine adequacy of personnel, equipment and technologies. - Implement Global best practices and innovation within the industry to ensure continuous improvement within the organisation.
- Provide direction and support to ensure compliance with relevant statutory requirements, such as SHEQ policies and procedures to promote safe port working
practices. - Monitor the Port Efficiency Index (PEI) KPIs) and metrices to track team performance and take corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth and effective communication, coordination, and resolution of customer issues.
- Prepare and present top management with reports on team performance, service levels, and customer satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- An Honours Degree [NQF Level 8] or equivalent in field of Business Administration, Port Management, Transportation Logistics or a related technical field.
- A minimum of seven (7) years relevant professional experience, of which three (3) years should have been in a specialist or senior supervisory capacity in an operations
environment. - Previous relevant experience in a similar role, within the Port and/or Maritime industry will be an added advantage.
- Certification in Project Management will be an added advantage.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering excellent customer service.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build strong customer relationships.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data and metrics to drive operational improvements.
- Proven experience in driving process improvements and optimising service delivery workflows.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment, adapting to evolving business needs.
