About the Role:
RISE Mzansi is seeking a dedicated and resourceful Administration Assistant to support RISE
Mzansi’s operation in Parliament. This junior position is ideal for individuals with a strong
background in administration, ofce management and a keen interest in politics. You will play a
key role in supporting RISE Mzansi’s work in the National Assembly
Objective:
To manage the ofce of RISE Mzansi’s Parliamentary Caucus and serve as the primary point
of contact for internal and external stakeholders with a high level of professionalism and
condentiality.
Key Qualications:
2 – 3 years of relevant work experience is required. Qualications and work experience will
both be assessed when considering years of experience, so relevant work-experience and a
proven track-record as an executive assistant may serve as a substitute for qualications.
Additional research or communications experience will be an advantage.
Responsibilities:
Manage internal and external stakeholders by determining the appropriate course of action,
referral, or response, exercising judgement to reect the values of the caucus and Party.
Provide calendar management for the Caucus. Prioritise enquiries and requests while
troubleshooting conicts; make judgements and recommendations to ensure smooth dayto-day engagements.
Ensure that internal communication i efsfectively managed to keep the Caucus well informed
of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, and following up appropriately.
Manage all Caucus ofce operations, including liaising with national structures.
Arrange and handle logistics for meetings and events: schedule meetings; draft agendas;
develop, compile, and distribute presentation materials; and record meeting minutes as
directed by the Caucus Leader, Whip and Head of Parliamentary Operations.
Adhere to compliance with applicable rules and regulations set by Parliament and the Party.
Complete a broad variety of administrative tasks that facilitate the Caucus’ ability to
effectively perform its duties in the National Assembly and the Party, including collecting and
preparing information for meetings with internal and external stakeholders; composing and preparing correspondence; maintaining contact lists (data base); making travel
arrangements; and completing expense and mileage reports.
Assist in the selection of vendors and purchase equipment, services, and supplies necessary
for operation of the ofce.
Devise and maintain ofce ling system, manage ofce budgets, process invoices and be the
repository of information for the Caucus.
General Duties:
Support all RISE Mzansi-related duties as required, which may include, but are not limited to,
assisting with organising events, performing general administrative tasks, and providing
assistance to other units of the Party.
To act in a manner that is consistent with RISE Mzansi’s vision, values and constitution.
Skills Required:
Exceptional organisational skills and impeccable attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
Ability to exercise independent judgement by completing a high volume of tasks with the
appropriate level of urgency.
Strong ability to execute work with a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens.
Ability to think critically and analyse complex information while taking a proactive approach
to problem-solving.
The ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders, including Politicians, Senior
Executives, Staff, Community Leaders, and Donors.
Procient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
A track record of active volunteerism and community engagement will be an advantage
