Unit Manager
Applications are invited to for the above-mentioned position in the Packaging Department based at Supply Chain Plant, Springs in Johannesburg. The successful incumbent will report to the Packaging Manager
Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:
- Achieve production KPI’s against targets:
- Adherence and Attainment to Production Plan (PCTS)
- Production Order Variances
- Operational Expenditure budgeting and control (R/hL)
- OPI NONA & Line Performance
- Efficient Asset utilization
- Achieve product quality
- Managing people
- Managing capital and NPD projects, trials and feasibility studies.
- See to annual maintenance plan of all equipment within department. (Adherence to Planned maintenance)
- Management of all quality systems.
- Develop and implement annual departmental business plans and assist in site’s business plan.
- To establish a positive and disciplined environment with staff and manage all HR issues within department.
- To effectively manage performance and drive TPM processes and implementation.
- Promote and drive skills development within department.
- Actively participate in daily and weekly management meetings.
- Must be able to work under pressure and see to queries associated with department.
- Innovation and business improvements in support of operational and segment goals.
The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills:
- Strong leadership capabilities
- Strong technical aptitude
- Degree as minimum qualification (NQF7 equivalent or above)
- Packaging experience in an FMCG environment
- World Class Manufacturing/TPM exposure (e.g. problem solving, visual management)
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years supervisory / management role
- Strong problem solving and RCA (root cause analysis) abilities
- People management and leadership skills
- High level of computer literacy in SAP & Microsoft O365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- The successful candidate must be innovative and drive best practices

Dry Goods Co-ordinator

This person will report to the Dry Goods Controller
Key performance areas but not limited to
- Achieving and maintaining high levels of customer service by adhering to service level agreements.
- Effective supervision of staff (Checkers, Forklift Drivers, General Workers and workforce staff).
- Exercising effective stock control:
-Supervising and controlling the receipt and despatch of products;
-Controlling both physical- and system stock movements;
-completing, recording and filing of transactions and documents;
Be part of stock takes.
-Execute daily cycle counts
- Controlling operating costs (e.g. overtime work).
- Controlling forklift-truck maintenance.
- Exercising control over the sorting of leakers, breakages and other waste/losses.
- Ensuring adherence to warehousing procedures.
- Ensuring effective quality management of finished goods and Dry goods in FWO1
- Ensuring compliance to ICC, ISO, HACCP and related audit standards.
- Maintaining housekeeping and safety standards.
- Working overtime and shifts when required.
- Performing stand-in duties when required.
- Active participation in Mini-Business activities (Mission Directed Work Teams).
The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills:
- Minimum of a Matric Certificate (Grade 12) plus a tertiary qualification within the Logistics/Warehousing study fields
- At least 3 years relevant working experience within a warehousing environment.
- Working knowledge of relevant standard operating procedures and work instructions would be preferable.
- Competent in the use of SAP and Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook).
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong administrative aptitude.
- Persuasiveness and ability to influence activities outside direct area of control.
- Ability to prioritize a wide range of tasks.
- Flexibility and ability to perform under pressure.
- Ability to function independently and work well within a team.

Machine Operator

The successful incumbent will report to the AJC Team Leader.
Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:
- To assist with general and operating duties for excellent customer service.
- Contribute to a cost-effective operation of department.
- Ensure highest possible productivity in workplace.
- Ensure that every product made is produced to the highest standard and do not allow any sub- standard products to leave the department.
- Be involved in line change overs and ensure it is done within allocated time and efficient line start-up after completion.
- Clean the machine and change parts and return to the change part store.
- Report any problems with the change parts to the Artisan and capture the problem on the check sheet.
- Operate machines with the utmost care to keep the machines well maintained. Clean and lubricate machines and complete the checklists.
- Report any machine problems to the MC, Artisan and PC. Open a job card in the case of a breakdown or to capture work arising.
- Identify losses and waste in own area and quantify the losses and waste.
- Participate in the area Loss and Waste exercise.
- Handle company products with the necessary care.
- Contribute in efforts to ensure maximum productivity of the team.
- Participate in MDT meetings to ensure optimal teamwork and team performance.
- Comply with company safety and housekeeping standards.
The successful candidate must have the following qualification, skills, and experience:
- At least 1 year experience in a similar environment
- Grade 12/Matric
- Physical strength to handle products and machines.
- Ability to prioritize a wide range of tasks.
- Flexibility and ability to perform under pressure.
- Ability to function independently and work well within a team.
- Sound interpersonal skills and experience in the supervision of staff
