Nomination for Election to the SAIPA Board
COMPANY NAME: South African Institute of Professional Accountants
Call for Nominations: 1 (one) Independent Board Member and 1 (one) Board Member
SAIPA Members are invited to nominate one Independent board member who is not a SAIPA member and one board member who may be a SAIPA member, to fill two vacancies on the SAIPA Board that have arisen. Each candidate must be nominated by, and the nomination must be seconded by, members in good standing in any category of SAIPA’s membership.
Such nominees will be considered for election and appointment at the SAIPA Annual General Meeting (AGM) in June 2025.
It is essential that nominations are submitted on the attached, specified nomination form, on or before the specified date for the submission of nominations, and that the submissions include the following:
- A signed and fully completed Nomination Form.
- A signed letter of acceptance from the nominee.
- A curriculum vitae (CV) of the nominee, tailored specifically for this position, including 3 (three) contactable professional references who are well suited to respond to questions relevant to the role.
- Certified copies of the nominee’s qualifications and identity document.
- A confirmation from SAIPA’s Compliance officer of the proposer and seconder’s good standing status.
Members should please note that nominations that are submitted without the aforesaid documents will be deemed to be invalid and therefore, excluded from the nominations process.
No correspondence will be entered into, other than with shortlisted candidates.

SAIPA has, over the last 40 (forty) years, become a leading Professional Accountancy Organisation (PAO) in South Africa, playing an increasingly strong leadership role in developing the profession locally, in Africa and internationally as well as facilitating the entry of previously disadvantaged individuals into the field. SAIPA has evolved into the country’s premier Professional Accountancy Organization (PAO) for qualified accounting practitioners who perform all accounting related and business engagements except external auditing.

The Institute is also a founding member of the Pan African Federation of Accountants (PAFA), affording it the privilege of positively influencing advancements in accounting philosophy, systems, and services across the African continent. SAIPA members carry the designation of Professional Accountant (SA), which is recognised and trusted throughout all sectors of the economy as a mark of integrity and honour.
Role Description:
SAIPA seeks two experienced individuals to serve on its Board of Directors to assist the Board in the discharge of its duties to the Institute, in line with the SAIPA Constitution and By Laws. The Board members must have the requisite skills, experience and qualifications to serve in that role.
Candidate Criteria: Independent Board Member
- May not be a SAIPA Member.
- At least 5 (five) years of experience serving on a Board of Directors.
- Credible professional in a professional field (Audit, Accountancy, Finance, Engineering, Law etc).
- Have no conflict of interest, actual or perceived, including board or executive positions at competing organisations.
- Previous experience in the aforementioned professional field.
- Ethical integrity and transparency.
- Sufficient knowledge of SAIPA’s business and operations.
- Sound business judgement gained through experience and expertise in managerial, technical, financial, governance and/or regulatory matters.
- Effective communication skills, cultural and emotional intelligence and maturity, flexibility, ability to balance risk with opportunity, ability to juggle multiple variables and the ability to contribute to a meeting of the minds in complex decision making.
- Excellent, demonstrated, leadership skills/qualities.
- Excellent, demonstrated, knowledge and experience of corporate governance principles.
- Excellent financial literacy and demonstrated strategy skills.
- Business, governance and/or finance management experience in the financial sector and/or alternative dispute resolution would be advantageous.
- Experience as a business leader that understands how to motivate employees at all levels, in both financial and non-financial ways and how SAIPA can derive value for members through people.
- A “Certified Director “, “Chartered Director” designation or membership of an appropriate professional body will be an advantage.

Key Purpose
To provide administrative support to the ETM Executive and the entire department.
- Schools Project
Draft the project plan in consultation with the ETM- Senior Manager
Co-ordinating and implementing projects from start to end
Set up sessions/meeting/with the following stakeholders
Liaise with relevant department on project timelines
Upload support material and recorded videos on mysaipa
Distribute stakeholders and target audiences’ communication and material.
Assist in monitoring SLA delivery from services providers and other contracted parties
Assisting with all project queries related to internal staff/learners/parents/teachers and registration and other project related
Provide all required project administration support for markers/moderators
Liaising with Marketing department.
Coordinating exhibitions and career days as well as presentations.
Provide administration support on contract approvals, payments etc.
Liaise with Marketing regarding the website update and other marketing activities and to develop campaigns around specific projects
- Support CPD Compliance ( Ad hoc)
Assist Professional Conduct with CPD approvals based on member CPD certificate
Provide reasons for rejecting CPD hours if incorrect documents are attached
Assist with scheduling Tax Practitioner SARS readiness program assessment on CRM and update Tax Practitioner status upon completion of the assessment)
Assist with Verifying Tax Practitioner Tax pin queries
- Support Trainees & ATC
Ensure trainees (new trainee applications/new OE’s/new assessors) logbook visibility to the assessors and OE’s profile to monitor trainee progress and give feedback to the trainees
Assign assessors to ATC on the logbook (ditto and update Overall Evaluator access when required
Coordinate Assessors monitoring visits at ATC and schedule zoom sessions as per the meeting schedule
Trainee Exam applications (Pending) checking of documents and moving it to the next stage
Log a request (Resignation) checking of documents and moving it to the next stage
Log a request (RPL) checking of documents and moving it to the next stage
Notification emails on CRM (until IT resolves the problem)
Notification emails on the logbook from CRM (until IT resolves the problem)
Updating of details on logbook
- Support Membership Application Process (CoBA, Project Achiever, Trainees, Student Members)
Review applications on CRM and verify supporting documents
Update the application status for completeness if all required documents are uploaded
Follow up with applications on outstanding documents
Advise candidates on application process
Generate and submit completed applicant status report to the Training and Assessment Manager
- Provide Coordination Support (Project Achiever)
Monitoring class attendance and issuing notices.
Coordinate breakaway session.
Issue constant communication to candidates.
Arranging extra class for candidates where required.
Arrange one-on-one sessions for candidates and markers.
Providing technical support to presenters & candidates (Monitor the session throughout for any connectivity issues, login issues and etc)
Coordinate access control to facilitators, markers, mentors, candidates to applicable online plat-forms
Work on analysis participation report and assessment reports.
Send out bulk communication to candidates.
- Provide administrative support (CoBA, Project Achiever, Trainees, Student Members)
Raise invoices to candidates on the programme.
Prepare credit note and refund requests.
Attend queries related to the programme, e.g. invoicing, drop off or notice of non-attendance.
Assist with the administration of the activities relating to Projects (such as Project Achiever), assessments and other related matters of the department.
Interaction and record keeping (Monitoring candidate’s participation).
Respond to candidate, markers, facilitator queries
Assist with queries relating to Trainees
Provide admin support to Assist and support the staff of ETM with administrative functions where required
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Qualification
Undergraduate studies in Administration, Secretarial Services, Office Management and/or Educations and Education legislation
Experience
3 years practical experience in the office administration and/or secretarial services
