Junior Forensic Investigator

Purpose Statement
- Under the guidance of the Manager: Forensic Investigations or Manager: Insurance Fraud, investigate instances of risk related to various types of fraud incidents across Capitec (e.g. external fraud such as credit application fraud for Capitec Bank and policyholder or claims fraud for Capitec Insurance. This will include internal fraud, serious breach of policies and procedures, and criminal syndicates). Investigate the matter, the parties involved and provide appropriate evidence for disciplinary hearings and/or criminal proceedings. Identify control weaknesses and recommend preventative measures, improvements, and training initiatives against potential fraud.
Experience
Minimum:
- Proven experience as a Forensic Investigator/Auditor in the Financial Services Sector
- At least 1-3 years’ experience in commercial crime investigation
Qualifications (Minimum)
- Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational

- A relevant tertiary qualification in Forensics or Finance

About the role:
As a Machine Learning Engineer at Capitec is pivotal in shaping and executing the bank’s AI strategy. By collaborating with Data Scientists and Decision Scientists, you’ll enhance their efficiency through the development, implementation, and support of platform improvements. Your contributions will be crucial in positioning Capitec to remain competitive in a rapidly evolving landscape where AI technologies are key strategic differentiators.
This role leverages your deep understanding of machine learning models, from concept to deployment, and expertise in modern software development best practices, big data processing frameworks, and cloud environments whilst sitting in the risk division of the business. You’ll also be working extensively with Python, SQL, and advanced debugging techniques to ensure the delivery of scalable, robust, and production-ready predictive models
Our ideal candidate has:
- 3+ years of experience in any engineering role
- Honors degree or higher in any field
- Python and SQL experience
- PySpark
- Big data frameworks – Hadoop/Kafka
- Github experience or Git

About the role:
As an Audit Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that internal audits add significant value to our organisation. Your responsibilities will include conducting internal audits, ensuring compliance with the Internal Audit Charter and International Internal Audit Standards, and providing subject matter expertise and technical guidance. You will also be instrumental in identifying risks, recommending controls, and leveraging technology to optimise the performance of the internal audit function
What you will bring:
- A relevant degree in Commerce or Auditing (CA(SA), CIA, CISA)
- At least 5 years as an Auditor (within insurance)
- Experience in project planning and management
- At least 2 years’ managerial experience in managing a team of 2 or more
Ideally you also have:
- A further qualification as: CIA, CISA, CA(SA), Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) / Control Self-Assessments(CCSA) / Data Management (CDM)
- Practical experience in data analytics
- Practical experience using COSO framework
- Practical experience of Basel 3

In this role, you’ll leverage your deep understanding of client conduct, operational behaviour, financial crime and industry best practices to drive leading risk mitigation measures. As a leader, you’ll not only guide your team in safeguarding the organisation against financial threats but also have the opportunity to shape the future of AML efforts, ensuring our practices are both effective and compliant.
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 7 years’ experience in conducting or managing customer desirability reviews within a financial institution
- Grade 12 coupled with a relevant qualification
- Industry exposure in financial institutions, large fintech companies, consulting environments, or legal firms are preferred.
- Possess broad industry knowledge, particularly in commercial and business banking,
