Introduction

Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Safety Officer Projects to be placed in Mponeng mine. The successful candidate will report to the Project Manager. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.

Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

•    Understanding of accident / incident techniques.
•    Conducting investigations and recording findings. 
•    Carrying out the duties as prescribed in the Act.
•    Informing management regarding any unsafe working conditions.
•    Compiling reports to line management regarding unsafe acts and conditions.
•    Facilitating and monitoring the risk assessment.
•    Monitoring the effectiveness of the campaigns, codes of practice and proactive measures which have been put in            place to support the Business Management System.
•    Receiving and collating data from inspections, incidents and observations for review by line management.
•    Sound understanding of M&RC and client safety systems, policies and procedures.
•    M&RC and client risk assessment methodologies and principles.
•    Sound knowledge of Rand Mutual processes.

Minimum requirements

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

•    Grade 12 or NQF level 4 equivalent.
•    A valid Trade Certificate or Blasting Certificate.
•    COMSOC 1 and 2
•    Risk Management qualification will be an added advantage
•    Investigation / Tap Root training (preferred).
•    Proficient in MS Office [Word, Excel].
•    Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
•    Valid First Aid Certificate
•    Valid EB driver’s licence
•    Medically fit to work underground (including HTS, RFA)
•    Clear criminal record

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

•    5 years’ mining sector experience.
•    Supervisory experience.
•    Basic knowledge of mining operations and methods.
•    Basic knowledge of relevant safety principles and system.
•    Strata control knowledge.

The successful candidate will report to the General Engineering Supervisor. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

  • Cost containment, high mean time to failure after repairs
  • Competent, motivated, disciplined and positive team player
  • Effective self and team supervision in alignment with M&RC values and leadership initiatives
  • Effective stakeholder engagement
  • Engineering equipment is repaired according to agreed standards, specifications and schedules
  • Electrical equipment installations are constructed and maintained according to agreed standards, procedures and specifications
  • Compliance with SHEQ, M&RC and client standards, policies, procedures and safety protocols
Minimum requirements

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

  • 5 years’ experience as a Winder Technician in the mining industry
  • 5 year’s trade experience as an Electrician
  • Registration as a Technician with ECSA (preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge on Gefran drives
  • Extensive knowledge on Allen Bradley PLC
  • Extensive knowledge on shaft sinking equipment
  • Extensive knowledge on kibble winder and stage winder including shaft sinking interlocks
  • Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Understanding and basic programming knowledge
  • Drawing electrical control system schematics
  • Experience with MV Switching, PLC controllers with HMI on Winders, Compressors, Fans, transformers etc.

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

    Minimum N5 Electrical Engineering Certificate (Heavy Current
•    Section 26 Electrical Trade Certificate / MIETTB (Mining Industry Engineering Trades Training Board) Trade
•    Certificate through a registered body.
•    Contract of Apprenticeship signed off by employer and Department of Manpower
•    Certified competent as an Electrician
•    Valid Code EB driver’s license
•    Valid First Aid certificate

Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

  •   Provide effective clerical assistance to the Snr Clerk on site
  •         Provide assistance for activities relating to the recruitment process
  •         Assist in organizing work permits, termination of employees, leave / status control forms etc.
  •       Capture leave forms on ESS of skilled and semi-skilled employees (site specific)
  •        Assist with employee induction regarding basic administrative activities
  •        Assist employees with resolving HR related queries
  •        Assist with booking of accommodation as required
  •         Assist with daily / monthly labour reports, time & attendance reports, monitoring of employee clocking, work permits and medical expiry dates
  •         Update employee data e.g. passport numbers etc.
  •         Assist with the completion of Rand Mutual forms and with updating the accident reporting system as required
  •         Effective administration of time & attendance and auditing of timesheets
  •         Process administrative activities relating to employee claims / benefits
  •         Update and maintain the filing system
  •         Proactive risk identification, escalate timeously
  •         Effective self-management in alignment with M&RC’s valu
Minimum requirements

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

  •         Grade 12 or equivalent
  •         Relevant Office Administration / Clerical related certificate
  •         Proficient in MS Office [Word, Outlook & Excel]
  •         Proficient at typing

  •         Attention to detail
  •         Good written and verbal communication skills in English

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience

  •         At least 1 year of experience in a similar role, preferably within a mining environment
