Core Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice in order to ensure compliance with legal requirements

• Attend to claims instituted by and against the Department in order to protect the interests of Council

• BCom (Honours) Degree in Accounting or CA/SA
• 5 – 8-year experience in a financial reporting environment
• Advance knowledge of Case Ware

Core Responsibilities

• Ensure City compliance with approved financial policies and applicable reporting standards, by annually assessing the effectiveness of the control environment
• Implement and contribute to strategic capability and leadership ensuring Council meets all statutory reporting requirements
• Ensure that sound internal controls practices are being implemented on identifies control weaknesses/gaps and opportunities for improvement
• Lead the City’s process for the compilation of the annual financial statements and group financial statements
• Ensure City compliance with relevant accounting and administrative practices, in conformance with the legislation and Generally Recognized Acceptance Accounting practice, that relevant significant accounting policies are developed and reviewed annually
• Management of the audit processes and facilitate auditors’ access to management and ensure that audit requests and audit queries are timeously attended to and properly responded

  • Minimum 5 to 8 years’ experience in a similar environment

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage the implementation of the Ekurhuleni Waste Management Operational Contracts Programme in line with the approved three-year operational estimate
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of the maintenance of the Waste Management Facilities or external service providers.
  • Oversee the procurement of goods and services for the Waste Management Division.
  • Manage the risk and governance contract management by ensuring expired contracts are renewed timeously.
  • Consulting Project Managers and Line Function Managers to develop the three year operational estimates for the Operational Contracts Program.
  • Ensure current contract specifications are constantly modified to address current short comings.
  • Manage all financial processes in order to exercise control in financial management and comply with financial legislations, policies and procedures.
  • Manage stakeholder relations by ensuring Project Managers are continuously monitoring customer feedback.
  • Ensure effective people management and relationships by managing and supervising sub-ordinates and building a sustainable relationships with decision makers and interest groups in support of divisional objectives.
  • Build and maintain sound relationships with both stakeholders and co-workers, decision makers and interest groups
  • Ensure the successful execution of projects and provide timeous, assessment of performance expectations.
  • Integrate and share policies, practices and system knowledge attained through formal and informal learning opportunities with Project Managers
