DEPARTMENT: HUMAN RESOURCES
Position: HR Manager
Nature of employment: Permanent (Full-time, office-based position)
Payroll category: monthly salaried staff
Job purpose: The HR Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources
practices and processes. This role supports business needs and ensures the proper
implementation of company strategy and objectives. The HR Manager will lead HR operations
and ensure legal compliance and effective implementation of HR initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- HR Leadership
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the overall business strategy.
- Partner with senior leadership to identify HR priorities and recommend solutions.
- Lead organisational change initiatives and support cultural development.
- Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Oversee and implement the full recruitment lifecycle, including workforce planning,
sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding. - Develop employer branding strategies to attract top talent.
- Monitor and improve recruitment metrics such as time-to-hire and cost-per-hire.
- Develop and maintain a proactive talent pool strategy to ensure a pipeline of qualified
candidates for current and future organisational needs.
- Employee Relations
- Serve as first point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns.
- Mediate and resolve workplace conflicts in a fair and timely manner.
- Align organisational values with employee behaviour, ensuring that the organisation fosters
a positive and productive work environment. - Facilitate disciplinary and grievance procedures in line with company policy.
- Act as the company’s representative in matters referred to the Commission for Conciliation,
Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA)
- Performance Management
- Assist in the implementation of performance appraisal systems.
- Guide managers and employees through goal setting and review processes.
- Provide coaching and support to managers on performance-related issues.
- Identify high-potential employees and support succession planning.
- HR Policy & Compliance
- Ensure HR policies and procedures are up-to-date and compliant with labor laws.
- Communicate policy changes and provide guidance to employees and managers.
- Support internal audits and ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
- Compile HR reports for senior managers.
- Lead the development and execution of the company’s Employment Equity (EE) strategy
in compliance with South African labor legislation. - Develop and implement strategies to meet the company’s BBBEE SED objectives.
- HR Administration & Systems
- Ensure employee records are accurately maintained on the HRIS.
- Facilitate employee changes such as promotions, transfers, and terminations.
- Support payroll processing by providing accurate employee data and assisting to resolve
payroll queries. - Oversee the administration of the employee benefits programs.
Minimum Job Requirements
- National Senior Certificate or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, or related field. (Honours preferred)
- 7–10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of labor legislation, HR best practices, and HR technologies. (ERS &
Sage 300 People will be advantageous) - Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment.
- This position requires occasional travel to various company sites and operational locations.
A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed are essential. - Clean criminal record.
