We have an exciting opportunity for unemployed youth to join our Learnership Programme for the 2024/2025 intake. The successful candidates will enroll in Clearing and Forwarding Agent NQF 5 learnership programme for 12 months. This one-year programme is aimed at providing unemployed learners with an opportunity to acquire theorical knowledge in Freight Forwarding as well as exposure in the work environment and improve future employability.
Learnership Location – Durban/Port Elizabeth/Cape Town, South Africa.
In this Learner position
- You will under direct supervision, support delivery of import/ export processes and activities to optimize service and performance.
- You will perform assigned tasks of generally repetitive nature for documentation such as receiving, reconciling, consolidating/ summarizing documents and information.
- You will support/ maintain operational systems as per instructions.
- You will execute back-office duties such as scanning, filing, reporting, etc.
- You will follow defined processes, systems and methods for delivery of assigned tasks.
- You will support and interact primarily with colleagues of own team.
- You will communicate information that requires little explanation or interpretation.
- You will address task-related issues appropriately to maintain work relationships.
Now, here’s what we need from you
- Grade 12/Matric with English (65%)
- You must be between the age 18 to 30 years.
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must not be currently employed or studying.
- Computer Knowledge (MS Office) will be an advantage.

Role Context
To manage, co-ordinate and support the Credit Control department in order to ensure the collection of all accounts, maintaining the shortest possible collection period, keeping bad debt losses to a minimum and the achievement of targets, as laid down by management, whilst retaining a positive approach and constructive attitude in order to foster goodwill, promote profitable sales and help build both customer and staff relationships. To ensure that specific credit collection goals are met through coaching, counselling, monitoring, and motivating a team of credit collectors and analysis while maintaining compliance with order-to-cash policies and defined collection strategies..
Key responsibilities
· Pre plan collections for month as per issued target. Maintain a log of monthly collections as per RPV’s allocated.
· To achieve OTC targets as laid down by management. To approve credits within authorised parameters.
· To submit overdue accounts to Head Office for Litigation. Approve Credit notes and adjustments.
· Meet with customers in efforts to build/maintain relationships and resolve any collection queries that may arise.
· To maintain and execute collection strategies in line with set standards and policies
· To guarantee timely and effective execution of internal control framework
· To actively managed cross functional dependencies
· To guide, reviews and initiates capacity management for credit and collection activities; ensures compliance with the departmental policies and procedures
· To review daily progression to cash targets; adjusts and yields collection and credit activities accordingly to meet cash collection objectives
· To ensure delivery of daily and monthly collection and credit management reports
· To act as a subject matter expert; propose, implement and maintain continuous improvement log in the field of collection and credit risk management
· To exercise good management judgment in the execution of job responsibilities
· To set up, review and maintains service line agreements with 3rd party collection agency
· To control cost related to 3rd party collection and credit rating agencies
· To perform root cause analysis and assist with any collection queries.
· To timely support settlement of customer collection queries
· To facilitate AR collection and minimise disputed amounts and ageing for aged debt positions
· To liaise with 3rd party countries, customer service, operation, and commercial/sales when required
· Liaise and communicate inter-departmentally with all Service Centres in order to maximise customer satisfaction
· Monitor, control and approve staff leave. Ensure appraisals are done timeously. Plan training and develop staff. Ensure “People First” nomination forms are completed monthly. Monitor and control staff uniforms.
· Recruits and develops the members of the team.
· Generates commitment, motivation and enthusiasm to company and division by motivating and retaining the best talent within DHL.
· Challenges self and others to exceed standards and achieve extraordinary results striving for best-in-class; determines team structure, roles, performance targets in co-operation with country and regional leadership.
· Evaluates performance and proposes performance-based compensation for direct staff.

Role Context
To handle, investigate and resolve customer enquiries from multiple channels in an accurate, professional and timely matter with moderate supervision. To provide high customer quality standards and, enable effective accounts receivable collection. Support administration of Credit & Collections / Accounts Receivable (OTC) activities and tasks to handle, investigate and resolve customer enquiries, maintain records and achieve compliance in line with internal and external policies and standards, regulations and compliance requirements.
Key responsibilities
· Support administration of Credit and Collections and Accounts Receivable OTC activities and tasks under moderate supervision
· To ensure customer queries from multiple channels are attended to, promptly in line with set standards with dedicated attention on inbound calls and emails in call center environment as well as outbound calls as necessary to address and resolve queries.
· To contribute knowledge and expertise toward resolving reoccurring queries- To provide professional and qualitative customer service in line with set DHL standards
· To resolve customer’s queries in accordance with set DHL standards – including internal investigations and adherence to required internal procedures. This includes contacting of customers outbound communication.
· To promptly and accurately log queries in ERP system.
· To actively promote self service functionalities and / or ensure customer query is addressed structurally so that it does not re-occur.
· To ensure cross function liaison and handle required billing adjustments.
· To escalate queries to senior AR Query Investigations Agents / AR Query Investigation Supervisors / OTC/AR Manager when the issue cannot be easily and quickly resolved without supervision.
· Should the query be easily and quickly resolved, remove query classification on relevant invoices and propose that the customer agree a P2P and if confirmed by the customer to log it into ERP system as a note along with requisite details
· To support resolution of more complex billing related queries and involve in customer interactions.
· To perform root cause analysis and, ensure billing accuracy upon receipt of queries
· Communicate information that requires some explanation or interpretation- Address task-related issues appropriately to maintain work relationships
· To timely support settlement of customer collection queries- Seek resolution of sales and customs disputes (queries) according to escalation procedures
· To facilitate AR collection and minimise disputed amounts relating to queries aged past country threshold
· Support and interact primarily with colleagues of own (OTC) team as well as to liaise with 3rd party countries (EXB Billing), customer service, operations, and commercial/sales when required
· On request, support the lead or supervisor on minor operational and/or reporting tasks.
· Explain facts, practices, policies, etc. to others within the organization, adhering to narrowly defined procedures, standards and guidelines.
Minimum Requirements
Education & experience
· Post Matric qualification in Finance or related.
· Matric or Equivalent
· 1 to 3 years’ experience
· DHL Express or Logistics experience.
· Excellent Business communication skills both verbal and written.
· High customer focus and service orientation
· Call Centre Experience
