Requirements

  • Grade 12 National Senior Certificate
  • Strong computer skills
  • Previous Experience working with IT – IMEDS will be to your advantage.
  • Excellent communication and Interpersonal skills a prerequisite.
  • Experience in dealing with customers.
  • Knowledge of hospital procedures and medical terminology will be advantageous.
  • Teamwork essential.
  • Must be able to flex between day and night shift.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the quality pharmaceutical services, financial objectives, legislative compliance and people management requirements is achieved to the required standards.Critical Outputs

  • Perform daily ward rounds with a multitude of medical specialists
  • Coordination of antimicrobial stewardship initiatives, identification of problem areas and implementation of corrective actions
  • Active participation within the hospital’s clinical pharmacy team and clinical mentoring of pharmacists and pharmacist interns
  • Review prescriptions and monitor patients to ensure effective and safe drug therapy, provide feedback and advice to the healthcare team regarding potential problems
  • Collaborate with Antimicrobial Stewardship Champion Doctor, to identify and address inappropriate antimicrobial usage.
  • Perform pharmacokinetic calculations and interpretation when required
  • Participate in the implementation of and compliance to LHC Quality Management Systems.
  • Practice of evidence-based patient care
  • Identifying and disseminating clinical evidence to support clinical pharmacy and antimicrobial stewardship interventions, ensuring cost-effective management of patient care
  • Participate in the active management of cost of sales of pharmaceuticals in line with revenue and budget.
  • Build effective working relationships with doctors, allied healthcare professionals, infection prevention and nursing staff
  • Drive the delivery of Key Performance Indicators in clinical pharmacy processes and practice, to improve patient safety and outcome
  • Preparation for and active participation in internal stakeholder meetings, including presentation of progress and gaps

Requirements

  • Pharm is essential, a qualification in a clinical pharmacy skills program would be advantageous
  • A minimum of 2 years hospital experience required
  • Relevant clinical knowledge and experience in the critical outputs
  • Experience within an antimicrobial stewardship team, implementation of antimicrobial stewardship and clinical pharmacy initiatives would be advantageous
  • Current registration with South African Pharmacy Council as a pharmacist
  • Understanding of pharmacy and related healthcare industry, legislation, regulation and challenges
  • Pharmaceutical product knowledge

  • To prepare sufficient instrument sets conforming to company standards
  • To ensure the correct application of sterile indicators and autoclave for maximum steam penetration
  • To check and prepare sets for sterilization
  • To correctly wash and clean instruments
  • To control sufficient instrument sets and ensure timeous sterilization
  • To order Priontex linen daily to ensure enough linen for use in theatres
  • To conduct regular daily checks on linen levels and ensure there is sufficient linen available
  • To check and control Priontex delivered, to pack them in the storeroom and do daily expiry date, checks
  • To ensure functional, maintained equipment according to legislative requirements
  • Conduct chemical, biological and mechanical checks in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications
  • Document test results
  • Check and maintain heat sealing machine and clean washers in accordance with company specifications
  • Ensure timeous repair of all equipment malfunctions
  • To ensure efficient utilization of non-recoverable stock items
  • Review and prepare action plan to reduce cost appropriately for effective use by theatre staff

Requirements

  • Grade 12 National Senior Certificate
  • CSSD experience and training in the private hospital setting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in packing of equipment
  • Must be able to work flexible hours
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and instruments and process around cleaning of equipment
  • Awareness of safety protocol

  • Assist with cycle counts and stock takes in Pharmacy and in the wards.
  • Ensure credited surgical stock is returned to the correct storage area.
  • Assist with stock management related to expiry dates, damaged stock, stock rotation and all ad hoc activities.
  • Regular pick-up and delivery of prescriptions between Wards and Pharmacy.
  • Assist with general clerical / admin duties in the Pharmacy.
  • Drive 100% alert reporting
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with nursing and other functions in the hospital

Requirements

  • Grade 12 National Senior Certificate.
  • Be available to work extra hours when needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Other important competencies are partnership building, customer orientation and willingness to be multi skilled.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure is crucial.
  • Computer literacy with knowledge of SAP, Impilo billing and stock control systems will be beneficial.
  • Physical strength to work with heavy stock boxes, trolleys and packing of stock on high shelves – correct pick up and safe work procedures
