MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
- At least Level 2 coaching qualifications regarding coaching programmes completed with SARU
- Experience within coaching and management of Rugby teams, as well as expertise within the areas of coaching, including but not limited to:
- Tactical strategies
- Game planning.
- Periodisation – strategic planning.
- Defensive and Attacking structures.
- Video-based performance analysis.
- Individual and team skills.
- World Rugby Coaching Certificate will be an advantage.
- A Tertiary Academic qualification is a requirement.
INFORMATION
The duration of this contract will be 12 months, but it can be extended to another year under the following conditions: The CUT Rugby Team: Ixias remain in the elite Varsity Cup during his/her tenure, and if relegated to the lower division (Varsity Shield), this condition be re-assessed, with no obligation of any extension.

Main purpose of the job
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) leads the university-wide Information Technology (IT) and serves as the principal technology leader for the University. This role is responsible for providing the vision and strategic leadership pertaining to the delivery of information technology strategies across the University, enabling the technology-based student learning experience and Employee productivity. The role directs the planning and implementation of enterprise-wide IT systems in support of institutional operations to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the academic project and the quality of the service. This individual is responsible for all aspects of the organisation’s information technology and systems.
As the Chief Information Officer, the role is principally responsible for driving Digital Transformation across the institution.
Main tasks
- Strategy & operational planning

Minimum Qualification/ Knowledge and/or Experience

- Experience in strategic planning, operational execution, as well as monitoring and evaluation of IT solutions.

- Total life cycle costing and analyses of water supply systems, e.g., abstraction and diversion works, pump station selection and design, bulk water supply, and water reticulation networks.
- Analyses, design, construction, and management of sewer and stormwater systems.
- Design of hydraulic structures, e.g., culverts, bridges, weirs, and associated protection works.
- Software applications related to water engineering (hydraulics), e.g., AutoDesk (AutoCAD & Civil-3D), Civil Designer, HEC-RAS, EPANET, EPASWMM, and Aqua Hydraulics.
- Design codes/legislation: (i) National Water Act (36/1998), (ii) Water Services Act (108/1997), (iii) National Environmental Management Act (107/1998), (iv) SANS1200 A-N (Civil Eng. Works), (v) CSIR (Red Book: Neighbourhood Planning and Design Guide for Sustainable Human Settlements), and (vi) SANRAL (Drainage Manual).
AND/OR
- Demonstrated knowledge, proficiency, application, and practical experience in Hydrology, including:
- Surface hydrology, engineering (design) hydrology, geohydrology, water resources management and planning, hydrological statistics, hydrological and hydraulic modelling, and environmental engineering at well-defined, broadly defined, and complex levels.
- Hydrological data processing, e.g., evaluation, processing, and quality control of historical information and observed hydrological and/or meteorological data.
- Calibration of flow-gauging weirs and related hydraulic structures, inclusive of calibration techniques, velocity distributions, conventional current gaugings, velocity-index applications, and the development of rating and velocity distribution curves.
- Hydrological surveying, e.g., topographical, flood, stake-out, and as-built surveys.
- Design flood estimation and flood risk analyses, e.g., capacity analyses of drainage system infrastructure and the estimation of flood-line levels as part of the Stormwater Master Planning function.
- Software applications related to water engineering (hydrology), e.g., AutoDesk (AutoCAD & Civil-3D), ArcGIS, QGIS, DREU, RLMA&SI, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWAT, WRSM, and WRYM.
- Design codes/legislation: (i) Conservation of Agricultural Resources Act (43/1983), (ii) National Water Act (36/1998), (iii) Disaster Management Act (57/2002), (iv) National Environmental Management Act (107/1998), and (v) SANRAL (Drainage Manual).
Desired Qualification, Knowledge and/or Experience

- Three completed master’s degrees as main supervisor; OR two completed doctorates (as main supervisor) at Senior Lecturer level OR four completed master’s degrees OR three cumulative completed doctorates (as main supervisor) OR at least one completed master’s degree (as main supervisor) and at least 9.0 cumulative credit units
- Ten cumulative presentations/papers at conferences, of which at least three cumulative presentations/posters at an international conference
- Lead/manage at least one research project
To be appointed as Senior Lecturer:
- A relevant SAQA approved Doctorate level degree (i.e. D Tech / PhD / D. Ed./ NQF 10 or equivalent) in Construction Management or Construction Project Management or Built Environment
- At least four years’ teaching/lecturing experience in the relevant subject field.
- Evidence of research output, post-graduate supervision, and presentations at national and international conferences in line with CUT’s promotion requirements, which require.
- 1.5 credit outputs (books, chapters in books, articles in accredited journals, papers published in peer-reviewed conference proceedings, patents, etc.).
- Two completed master’s degrees as co-supervisor; or one completed master’s degree as supervisor. (Not applicable if the applicant already has a minimum of 2.0 publication, research or innovation credit outputs at Lecturer level).
- Four cumulative presentations/papers at conferences, of which at one should be an international presentation/paper (international conferences held in South Africa are also regarded as international conferences).
- Involvement in at least one community project (related to the teaching and learning and the research and innovation curriculum).
Desired Qualification, Knowledge And/Or Experience
To be appointed as Associate Professor:
- Peer reviewed publication track record in the field of specialisation (h-index or i10).
- Visible engagement in a relevant research community.
- Evidence of the acquisition of research grants from local and international sources
- In possession of, a teaching qualification in higher education
- In possession of a National Research Foundation Rating (NRF rating is an added advantage)
- Evidence of the ability to lecture at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Evidence of interaction/engagement with professional community and the society
- Evidence of work experience in multicultural environment is an asset.
