E-RESOURCES LIBRARIAN

Key Performance Areas:

  • Leading and managing the implementation of the strategic activities
  • Managing the lifecycle of licensed electronic resources, including ordering, payments
    and activation.
  • Monitoring subscriptions, ensuring accurate bibliographic records.
  • Maintaining URL links, communicating with vendors, and staying updated on emerging
    technologies.
  • Executing workflows for acquiring, licensing, accessing, and maintaining electronic
    resources.
  • Managing subscription renewals, payments, and usage statistics.
  • Conducting training in the utilization of library resources and tools for academic writing
  • Communication and marketing

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.Bibl degree, OR An NQF level 7 qualification in Library and Information
    Studies/Science (Bachelor’s, Advanced Diploma, Post-graduate Diploma, B-Tech)
  • Honours or Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in: generating and analyzing e-resources data usage
    reports, negotiation and managing license agreements and contract renewals, and
    providing training of library e-resources utilization in a Higher Education environment.

Recommendations:

  • Honours in Library and Information Studies/Science or Master’s degree
  • LIASA individual membership

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of the academic publishing landscape
  • Knowledge of E-resources databases and Open Access resources

INDUSTRIAL TECHNICIAN

Key Performance Areas:

  • Prepare and facilitate practicals for students.
  • Update equipment and practical manuals
  • Maintain laboratories and equipment
  • Stock control.
  • Liaise with industry and community.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Diploma (or National diploma) in Mechanical Engineering
  • Two years of relevant post qualification experience in mechanical engineering
    laboratory or industrial

Recommendations:

  • Extensive experience in commissioning/maintenance of mechanical engineering
    equipment
  • Must be familiar with mechanical engineering process simulation software

Competencies:

  • Computer literacy
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently

Salary Scale: R321 803.00 – R447 204.00 (P10) basic salary per annum.

LEARNING DESIGNER x2

Key Performance Areas:

  • Work with lecturers to understand varying student needs, identify learning outcomes
    and apply learning design methodology.
  • Design course materials in a variety of formats to ensure highly interactive learning
    solutions.
  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that achieve
    learning outcomes.
  • Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and learning environment.
  • Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product.
  • Manage the creation of supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations etc).
  • Research the effectiveness of adopted educational technology tools and strategies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Honours Degree/Postgraduate Diploma with a focus on Educational Technology or
    related field (e.g Instruction, Design, Education, Curriculum Development, ICTs in
    Education, Digital Education and Online Teaching)
  • A minimum of Five years’ experience working with Learning Management Systems,
    preferably Blackboard or Moodle, in a higher education environment, of which at least
    three years involved the professional design and development of content for blended
    learning.
  • Teaching experience will be an added advantage.

Recommendations:

  • Master’s degree is recommended.

Competencies:

  • Computer Literacy: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project Access / Database,
    Internet, E-mail.
  • Use of Project Management Tools.
  • Competence in eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate,
    H5P) is desirable.
  • Solid understanding of learning theories and instructional design models (e.g.
    ADDIE, SAM, Constructivist approaches).
  • Ability to apply pedagogically sound practices in course design and academic staff
    support.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, or lecturing skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong time management and project coordination abilities.

Salary Scale: R483 475.00 – R746 566.00 P8 basic salary per annum.

MANAGER: TECHNICAL SERVICES

Key Performance Areas:

  • Plan the input to projects and service activities and coordinate internal and external
    staff inputs to achieve agreed objectives
  • Contribute to the annual departmental process, particularly in the infrastructure area,
    producing proposals and providing primary input on technology and resource
    estimates
  • Ensure planned installations of new products must meet security requirements prior to
    implementation
  • Coordinate with team in ensuring the entire file system of all applications are being
    backed up in accordance with the Disaster Recovery Plan
  • Accountable for maximizing the productivity of staff and the maintainability of Hardware
    and Software
  • Produce project proposals with budget estimates of resource and financial
    requirements
  • Reviews technical issues and ensures at all times that clients remain informed and
    aware of relevant business impacts
  • Plan the input to projects and service activities and coordinate internal and external
    staff inputs to achieve agreed objectives
  • Ensure planned installations of new products must meet security requirements prior to
    implementation
  • Responsible for Technical Services Risk Management in preparing mitigation plans for
    risks in accordance with MUTs risk register
  • Serves as a resource for the technical staff in making sure that only problems falling
    outside the skill-set available in the unit are taken up with the supplier
  • Develop new and revise existing protocols, policies and procedures in accordance with
    ITN objectives
  • Provide advice and information to management on information security methods or
    protocols for emerging or newly introduced technologies

Minimum Requirements:

  • NQF 7 Information Technology related Qualification
  • Microsoft and Networking Certification
  • Very strong technical competence with a minimum of five (05) years’ experience in a
    senior Information Technology position
  • A minimum of three (03) years proven supervisory responsibilities, leading a team of
    technical staff
