Purpose of the Job: Is responsible for the smooth running and management of the Claims Onboarding department in the province through the effective use of resources and ensuring that all RAF service offerings are executed in compliance with legislation and RAF Policies and Procedures.

Key Performance Areas

Management of Department

  • Development the business plans for the CSC aligned with the RAF strategic plan of the RAF.
  • Provide technical assistance to employees within the Claims Onboarding Department in the Province.
  • Claims Onboarding include consultations, origination of direct claims, direct claim lodgement, pro-active and re-active information collection, and pre-merits assessment.
  • Manage the activities of the Hospital Service Centres, Community service Centre (including Registrations and Validation/Verification, Merits team).
  • Mobilise employees within the Province to actively practice the RAF mission, vision, values and strategic objectives.

Ensure implementation of continuous improvements initiatives to enhance service delivery & effective reporting.

  • Prepare and submit monthly progress reports to the Senior Claims Manager.
  • Ensure effective and sufficient recording of daily activities of the Department.
  • Ensure the timely completion of financial reports.

Ensure adherence to corporate governance within the team.

  • Prepare and manage the annual budget for the CSC in accordance with legislation and RAF targets and goals.
  • Prepare the annual administrative and human resource budget for the budget for the Department in the Region.
  • Ensure that employees adhere to the PFMA.
  • Monitor the departmental expenditure.

Stakeholder Management  

  • Facilitate communication with all levels of stakeholder contact.
  • Ensure that the RAF values are adhered to in all dealings with stakeholders.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 6-8 working experience in a claims/legal environment of which 2 years must have been at a manager/supervisory level.

Key Performance Areas

Plan the Implementation of Cyber Security IT Audits

  • Plan and conduct Cyber Security IT audits as per the approved Internal Audit Methodology.

Purpose of the job: The OFFICER: CLAIMS INVESTIGATIONS is responsible for effectively and efficiently providing investigative support services for claims lodged against the Road Accident Fund (RAF).

Key Performance Areas

Investigation and assessment of Claims lodged

  • Trace insured driver / witnesses to consult and obtain statements and docket.
  • Ensure that a proper sketch plan of an accident scene is drawn as part of the investigation and assessment process.
  • Ensure that clear photographs of an accident scene, faces of the people interviewed, damaged vehicles and injuries to a person are taken as part of the investigation and assessment process.
  • Obtain and / verify existing affidavits from different parties (e.g. claimants, witnesses, employers, etc.).
  • Identify possible fraud and corruption and escalate to the Forensic Investigation Department (FID).
  • Testify in court cases when a claimant is guilty and accused of fraud.
  • Provide assistance in ensuring witness presence at court.

Administrative support

  • Validate supporting documents (e.g. employment details, paternity/ maternity details, SARS documents, etc.) for all related quantum investigations.
  • Verify details of the claimant and those injured in an accident through Natis and Cross Check systems (e.g. ID no, contact numbers, address/s, employment details, etc.)
  • Verify the details of the secondary vehicle/s involved in the accident to determine the owner/s.
  • Quality checks the supporting documents from stakeholders to determine the validity of the logged claim.
  • Validate loss of earnings.
  • Provide progress reports as per the internal service level agreement.

Document and records Management

  • Monitor and maintain an effective filing system.
  • Ensure that files are correctly categorised and stored to ensure a smooth retrieval of documents.

Purpose of the job: The Driver/Messenger is accountable to safely transport people, documents and / or goods to and from an assigned area. The incumbent will be required to follow appropriate safety procedures when transporting people, equipment and / or documents and adhere to National specific road safety rules and regulations. In addition, the role holder will be required to adhere to work schedules and will be required to report all vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, damages or loss of equipment as well as reporting unexpected delays.

 Messenger services
