To perform reviews and assessments, as assigned, based on an in-depth understanding of established legal, regulatory and organisational documents, processes and guides, in the area of Nuclear Engineering, Reactor Design and Operational Safety, Reactor Control and Accident Control and Mitigation
Minimum requirements

  • NQF level 7 in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Nuclear Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of previous regulatory or industry experience
  • Knowledge of the principles of and requirements for nuclear safety related to nuclear power plants related to design, operation, defence in depth, modification and configuration control, and accident analyses

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform reviews and assessments as assigned, based on an in-depth understanding of legal, regulatory and organisational documents, processes and guides
  • Handle both simple and complex systems assessments
  • Provide input into the development of regulatory standards, practices and guides
  • Participate in national and international forums
  • Represent organisation in meetings with external stakeholders
  • Participate in other NNR work outside departmental as required e.g. emergency exercise etc.
  • Participate in performance of audits and inspections
