POSITION OBJECTIVE:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Tangible and Intangible Asset Management and Accounting

  • Perform asset tagging of new assets, create asset numbers and capitalise costs correctly as per IFRS / GRAP.
  • Continually update the fixed asset register considering acquisitions, disposals, locations, serial numbers, details, and descriptions.
  • Conduct physical asset verifications of fixed assets.
  • Perform fixed asset analytics, including the comparison of the year-end fixed asset register to the previous year-end fixed asset register, investigating any anomalies.
  • Perform depreciation and amortisation calculations on fixed assets and intangibles, including the performance of the depreciation run on the financial system.
  • Prepare asset disposal memorandums and dispose of assets as per approved procedures.
  • Manage intangible asset register.

Investment Property Accounting

  • Process monthly Journals received ensuring that journals are complete and accurate.
  • Ensure investment property additions and disposals are properly accounted for with the necessary supporting documentation and authorization.
  • Perform investment property analytics, including the comparison of the year-end investment property listing to the previous year-end listing, investigating any anomalies.
  • Manage relationship with property management companies.

Assets Under Construction Accounting

  • Populate and perform updates of the Assets Under Construction register.
  • Maintain a register of completed projects with the takeover certificates (TOCs) and final payment certificates as supporting documentation.

Reconciliations and Reporting

  • Perform monthly reconciliations on fixed assets.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations on intangible assets.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations on investment properties.
  • Identify anomalies and provide commentary on reconciliations performed.

Investment Property Accounting

  • Provide guidance and review accounting performed for investment property accounting.
  • Draft and update all policies related to investment properties.
  • Liaise with the property management companies to determine the non-current assets held for sale ensuring compliance to IFRS / GRAP.
  • Calculate fair value adjustments on investment properties.

Assets Under Construction Accounting

  • Review the Assets Under Construction register.

Board Support Officer

Description
POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Deputy Company Secretary

Description
Position Objective
To assist the Board General Counsel and Company Secretary in supporting the Board of Directors by providing a professional company secretariat service.

This role will ensure compliance with the SANRAL Act, PFMA, Companies Act, and other legislative, statutory, and regulatory requirements. The incumbent will advise the Board and subcommittees on managing legal and ethical risks, fiduciary duties, and corporate governance.

Additionally, the role will provide leadership and oversight of effective secretariat support for committees, manage the day-to-day activities of the Secretariat function, and act as second-in-command to the Board General Counsel and Company Secretary.

Organisational Structure

Minimum Requirements

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The General Manager of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) is responsible for the national oversight over the continuous monitoring and optimisation of the National Road Network and related infrastructure, through interventions aimed at ensuring asset preservation, the safety of road users and pedestrians, and the effective day-to-day operation of the National Road Network. Responsibilities stretch over multiple disciplines including traffic control, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), road safety, toll and tunnels, facilities management, routine road maintenance (RRM) and electrical engineering. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • NQF Level 8 qualification in Civil Engineering. 
  • Registered as a Pr. Engineer or Pr. Technologist with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). Candidate Engineers or Technicians will not be considered.
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience post qualification. The relevant experience must have a focus on either road operations and maintenance or Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) operations
  • With 5 years’ experience in project delivery and contract management (FIDIC).
  • Minimum 5 years managerial and/or leadership experience in a collaborative environment and with multi-disciplinary teams

National oversight over Operations and Maintenance

  • Proactively monitor the day-to-day operations of the National Road Network, including the progress and management of all Maintenance and Operations projects
  • Identify and investigate issues and areas of non-performance
  • Monitor the effectiveness of routine road maintenance to ensure that the condition of National Roads is preserved
  • Lead in the development of new ways of working (including the introduction of new technology) that maximise efficiency and effectiveness of road network operations, to the benefit of road users
  • Identify and investigate cost saving initiatives
  • Identify and develop opportunities to improve road user experience across the National Road Network
  • Monitor the implementation and track the effectiveness of various road safety programmes
  • Monitor the management of tolling operations (both CTROM and ORT) nationally. Support the Tolling Manager with matters related to the management of concessions when required
  • Oversee proper functioning of Statutory Control in terms of SANRAL policies

For Noting:

Besides the above, the incumbent will also be required provide Technical Advisory and support to the business and industry, therefore ensuring effective collaboration and integration between different disciplines within Maintenance and Operations and with other functional areas within Road Network.

The Server Engineer is responsible for maintaining and optimizing SANRAL’s virtualized infrastructure, including vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, and Site Recovery Manager (SRM).
