Job description

This is a boots-on-the-ground engineering key role in managing Mining Contractors and ensuring BRMO compliance with DMR Regulations. Support a team that’s pushing boundaries in mining innovation, safety and sustainability.

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12 (Required).
  • National Diploma (N6/S4/T4) Engineering NQF Level 6 (Required).
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering NQF level 6 (Alternative).
  • Certificate” GCC Mines and Works (advantageous).
  • Valid Code B Driver’s license.

Experience and Requirements

  • 2 Years engineering experience in a mining environment.
  • 1 Year Experience in managing projects.

Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Results-driven mindset.
  • Change Leadership capability.
  • Microsoft Office, JDE, Oracle, Isometrix, QlikView
  • Strong business acumen
  • Proven ability to lead teams and foster collaborative relationships.

  • Identify improvement opportunities, streamline operations, and resolve conflicts to boost efficiency.
  • Promote safe work practices, conduct risk assessments, and ensure adherence to SHERQ and DMR regulations.
  • Maintain high-quality standards and ensure accurate reporting and documentation.
  • Contribute to planning and manage operational, labour, and budgets within your scope.

ASSMANG Pty Ltd requires the services of Engineering Supervisor Mechanic – C5 at their Black Rock Mine Operations situated 80km North-West of Kuruman in the Northern Cape. Successful Candidate will ensure equipment availability and reliability through application of maintenance management systems and resources to achieve production targets. Monitor progress and evaluate the results of jobs.

Job description

  • Computer literacy – Microsoft Office, JDE, Qlikview, Oracle
  • Implement team operational plans to ensure defined objectives are met through supporting and being supported by, other teams within and linked to department.
  • Supervise and inspect subordinates daily activities, offer coaching and on the job training to ensure maintenance according to organizational standards.
  • Coordinate maintenance as well as statutory inspections and audits by internal and external service providers.
  • Ensure the execution of scheduled and non-scheduled mechanical repairs, inspections and installation work as required.
  • Obtain information, check for accuracy and capture data. File documents per procedure.
  • Propose ideas or practical improvements relevant to tasks. Participate in improvement initiatives and lead group discussions to solve problems.
  • Comply with disciplinary and behavioral rules and procedures.
  • Comply with safety, health and environmental standards. Identify and report unsafe and hazardous situations in work area. Conduct safety meetings. Enforce team adherence to standards.
  • Comply with Quality standards and deliver in a manner that support and meet operational quality standards.

Introduction

ASSMANG Pty Ltd requires the services of Interns at their Black Rock Mine Operations situated 80km North-West of Kuruman in the Northern Cape. The internship programme is part of an initiative to address Assmang`s critical and scarce skills, as well as to provide a hands-on workplace structured graduate development Programme (GDP) for unemployed youth. The programme intends to develop emerging labour entrants with skills and experience to function in a working environment. Applications are invited from unemployed and suitably qualified graduates who are not currently on an internship programme and meet the under-listed criteria. The closing date for applications will be Friday, 31 October 2025.
