Artisan Mechanic

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate
  • Artisan Mechanical Trade Certificate (Diesel)
  • 1 to 2 years experience required
  • Valid Code A and EC drivers licences and valid
    PDP
  • Communication skills in at least 2 (two) of the 3
    (three) official languages of the Western Cape

Main Functions:

  • Mechanical functions: Checks and tests vehicles
    pre- and post-service maintenance/repairs to
    ensure the extent of repair or nature of fault is
    determined to enable efficient execution of
    repair maintenance sequence and functionality
    checked prior to delivery to client.
  • Fault Finding/Repairs: Repairs mechanical
    breakdowns to ensure faults are detected and
    repaired and functionality restored with minimal
    disruption to service.
  • Do maintenance on small plant to ensure that
    machinery is in good working condition.

Special Conditions/Skills:

  • Knowledge of repairing and maintaining
    motorcycles.
  • Good welding and metal working skills.
  • Specialised knowledge of fleet management
    and replacement principles and practises and
    information systems.
  • Manage and Supervisory skills.

Building Inspector (Enforcement & Compliance)

Requirements:

  • A Relevant National Diploma Qualification as
    stipulated in the National Building Regulations in
    one of the following building disciplines:
    (a) Civil Engineering; (b) Structural Engineering
    (c) Architecture (d) Building Management;
    (e) Building Science; (f) Building Surveying; or
    (g) Quantity surveying.
  • Peace officer certification or eligible to register as
    Peace Officer (no criminal record)
  • Valid Code B Driver’s License and own vehicle
  • Communication skills in at least two of the three
    official languages of the Western Cape
  • Computer Literacy: MS Office
  • Three (3) – Five (5) years Building Industry
    experience

Key Performance Areas:

  • Manage and investigate complaints regarding noncompliance of buildings and or/ structures in terms
    of the Building Act, SANS 10400, and Problem
    Building By-Laws.
  • Administer enforcement documentation records of
    non-compliance of structures for the Municipal
    Court. Liaise with the Prosecutor regarding noncompliance and enforcement.
  • Ensures compliance with legislation with regards to
    Plan examinations and building inspections in
    terms of building plan applications when
    necessary.
  • Manage and administer the three (3) yearly Tender
    for the appointment of Built Environment
    professionals in conjunction with Supply Chain
    Management.
  • Assessment, administer, issuing of, and ensuring
    compliance of Temporary structure application
    permits.
  • Manage and administer and enforce the Signage
    By-Law.
  • Customers care about Built Environment enquiries
    for internal departments and external clients.

Controller: Payroll

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (or equivalent NQF4 qualification) with
    Mathematics or Accounting.
  • Relevant Financial or Payroll Certificate NQF 5
  • 5 – 8 years’ experience in a similar work environment.
  • Advance computer literacy in MS Office (MS Word, MS
    Excel) and payroll systems

Key performance areas:

  • Process and finalize staff salary schedules to ensure
    accurate and timely payment of salaries so that payment

    maintained, and that GRAP, Legislation and Council

  • Process and finalize schedules of all statutory and thirdparty deductions to enhance control and accuracy so that
    a system of internal control is maintained, and GRAP,

  • Verification of all contract and casual employees to
    ensure effective delivery service/production so that
    payment of contract/casual wages is accurate, a system
    of internal control is maintained, and that GRAP,
    Legislation, and Council Policies are complied with.
  • Assist the Accountant: Payroll to control the key
    performance areas and critical outputs of subordinates to
    ensure acceptable performance levels are sustained and
    adequate direction provided, enabling the subordinates
    to accomplish laid down objectives, inclusive of
    supervision and guidance to subordinates.
  • Provides information on the status of payroll-related
    processes and specific procedural stakeholders
    understand the Municipality’s financial and processing
    procedures and policies in respect of payroll-related
    matters

Driver / Artisan Assistant

Requirements:

  • Grade 10

Senior Accountant: Payroll

Requirements:

  • A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification, preferably a
    National Diploma or B. Com with Financial Accounting as
    a major subject.
  • Driver’s license – Code B.
