Associate Economic Statistician -ESD

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

  • Develop and maintain data products using data science tools and techniques that would enhance the department’s ability to conduct statistical and economic analysis. 
  • Apply data science tools and techniques to enhance existing economic indicators and to develop new indicators.
  • Enhance and maintain the production time series database.
  • Assist in the analysis of data and statistics by developing business intelligence tools (e.g. web applications and dashboards) to identify trends and to build dynamic, reproducible reports and presentations.
  • Compile and disseminate monthly ‘Economic Flash Reports’ with in-depth analysis of short-term economic indicators. 
  • Provide end-user training to staff in the unit and the department on data products in production, and present on specialised topics in the data science sphere.
  • Conduct methodological research, with an emphasis on data science applications within a central bank environment.
  • Contribute to the compilation of analytical and methodological notes.
  • Contribute to internal data science documentation and procedures in the department and participate in SARB-wide and external forums.
  • Assist with presentations as required, including the management of external forums.
  • Perform general administrative and ad hoc tasks required by the unit.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of:

  • an Honours degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics and/or a related field; and
  • two to five years’ experience in economic analysis, with proven project-based data science experience.

Cloud Architect – BSTD

Job Description

Brief description

The main purpose of this position is to research, plan, architect, design and deploy infrastructure cloud solutions within the South African Reserve Bank Group (SARB Group).

Detailed description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

  • Research and recommend emerging and fit-for-purpose infrastructure (servers, mainframe, storage, etc.) solutions and participate in the procurement of such solutions aligned to the business strategy.
  • Define and evolve the SARB Group’s cloud architecture in alignment with the to-be architecture.
  • Plan and develop cloud architecture blueprints and roadmaps for cloud solutions in alignment with industry best practices and standards.
  • Oversee the implementation of cloud infrastructure designs and ensure alignment with industry best practices and standards.
  • Provide expert guidance on cloud adoption and cloud cost management strategies.
  • Oversee the management of the cloud technology life cycle.
  • Lead the design of cloud native solutions.

The main purpose of this position is to plan, design, implement, configure and provide defined levels (lines) of support for all virtualisation infrastructures, ensuring sufficient capacity and performance to meet business demand and ensure availability as per approved service standards.

Detailed description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

  • Define own work plan and deliverables with guidance from the Team Lead: Servers and Storage and prioritise delivery of own outputs against the agreed work plan.
  • Design, test and implement scalable, redundant, virtualisation infrastructure solutions and related technologies according to documented business requirements and industry best practises.
  • Provide first line support on deployed server virtualisation infrastructure.
  • Provide escalation (third line) support on deployed server virtualisation infrastructure.

  • Develop, maintain and implement creative design processes, systems and standards to meet all visual communication requirements.
  • Lead the Visual Communications team by allocating projects and coaching graphic designers, ensuring all work aligns with the SARB brand and corporate identity.
  • Oversee the creative direction of the team, guiding concept development and the design of client proposals, motion graphics, presentations, the layout of publications as well as other design material.

Business Operations Officer – Domestic Settlement Services – NPSD


Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

  • Provide support to participants and clearing and settlement operators through various mediums or communication channels.
  • Log, monitor, escalate and resolve calls on the call logging system according to agreed service level standards.

  • Analyse information and provide reports on incidents, problems and production releases.
