Job Description

To ensure quality control requirements are met in a laboratory environment as per standards through timeous analytical method of analysis on production blends against a set specification.

To provide a specialist chemical laboratory function to ensure that quality of local components, production materials and processes conform to MBAG standards and to provide specialist chemical technical expertise to the MBSA plant and suppliers.


The Job Requirements

·        Coordination of Lab resources to ensure customer demands are met effectively and efficiently.

·        Conduct chemical analysis: Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses to determine the composition and behaviour of materials.

·        Operate and maintain equipment: Utilize a wide range of specialized laboratory instruments and software to collect and analyse data.

·         Method Development & Validation

·        Quality Control & Compliance

·        Operate and maintain equipment – Utilize a wide range of specialized laboratory instruments and software to collect and analyse data.

·        Flexibility to work on weekends for production support & maintenance

·        Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.

·        Ability to perform the minimum required physical and mental requirements of the function.

·        People’s Principles as per LEAD.

Outputs

·        Provide an accurate and timeous chemical analytical service to support failure analysis, problem-solving and continuous improvement measures. Support plant with chemical technical expertise.

·        Responsible for providing an analytical service to monitor critical production processes to ensure business needs are met. Analyse data obtained through regular checks to support quality demands of the business and prevent non-conformance of product and processes. Responsible for record keeping of test results to ensure compliance to MBAG archiving requirements.

·        Maintain laboratory equipment in area of responsibility according to good laboratory practices and Quality Management System in order to maintain laboratory accreditation.

·        Participate in evaluation and approval of hazardous chemicals proposed for usage at MBSA

·        Responsible for ISIR material evaluation of localised parts and support local suppliers with technical expertise linked to the ISIR part approval process.

·        Responsible for continuous improvement within area of responsibility.

·        Ensure compliance with the Company’s Integrity & Anti Bribery Codes, Conflict of Interest Policy & S.H.E.Q requirements.

Qualifications

·        Minimum NQF 7 Bachelor of Science (BSC) or relevant equivalent.

·        3-5 years analytical chemistry experience or relevant experience

·        Analytical instruments / methods / Standards

·        Automotive Product /Technical Knowledge

·        Automotive paint technology standards

·        QMS / ISIR /MBAG standards and systems

What is the selection criteria?

  • Grade 12 learners must have an overall average of 70% or higher, with a minimum average of 65% in Mathematics            and/or Physical Science (for engineering-related streams).
  • Current Grade 12 learners are required to submit their latest third-term results, while applicants already enrolled in         tertiary studies must provide their final matric certificate.
  • Applicants currently studying at a tertiary level must have a minimum average of 65% based on their most recent             semester results.
  • Final year academic results will be considered as part of the selection process for all shortlisted candidates.
