Perform reviews and assessments of complex technical submissions from applicants for, and holders of an authorisation, on nuclear and radiation safety aspects as assigned, based on in-depth understanding of established legal, regulatory, and organisational documents, process and guides, with specific emphasis to PSA Level 1

Minimum Requirements:

  • NQF level 7 in Natural Sciences or Chemical Engineering or Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering, Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in probabilistic safety assessments level 1, using RiskSpectrum software code, in the regulatory or industry environment

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex PSA level 1 reviews and assessments using applicable software codes and regulatory framework and standards
  • Handle both simple and complex systems assessments
  • Provide input into the development of regulatory standards, practices and guides
  • Provide expert opinion and identify emerging topical and regulatory issues on nuclear and radiation safety
  • Participate in national and international forums
  • Represent the organisation in meetings with external stakeholders
  • Participate in organisational work outside the department, as required
