Fitter and Turner – Durban Rice Plant

Responsibilities

Job Overview:As a fitter you will be required to perform preventive, predictive, corrective and emergency/breakdown maintenance. Reduce breakdown and perform repairs within strict budget constraints. Perform callout and standby on a rotational basis shared with members of the maintenance team. Be able to work independently and under pressure. Comfortable working in a team to achieve maximum plant efficiency.

  • Fitter and turner’s roles include fabricating, assembling and installing machinery components.
  • Maintenance and repairs on various machines.
  •  Using technical skills to interpret blueprints, measure materials and operate tools like lathes and milling machines.
  • Identify the root cause of mechanical faults and troubleshoot issues during operation.
  •  Use hand tools like files, chisels and grinders to make fine adjustments to parts for a perfect fit.
  • Perform alignment of v belt pulleys, chains and couplings. Always maintaining/improving safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Matric.
  • Mechanical Trade Test certificate.
  • 5 years’ experience (FMCG experience will be an added advantage).
  • Must also possess welding knowledge.
  • Must have leadership experience and capabilities through previous roles performed.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and practical outcomes.

Procurement Category Lead: Juice Concentrates – Cape Town HQ

Responsibilities

What we’re looking for:

  • Support in designing and implementing specific global technical platforms and supplier competitive Tension tools that will deliver further competitive advantage for the PepsiCo OU’s and bring programs to Sector benchmarks.
  • Review and sign-off evaluation of all Concentrates RFP’s and cover letters, by assessing ingredients team using smart bidding options and utilizing category levers for lowest total cost to business (TCO)
  • Lead at all business forums Value Engineering / Productivity Concentrates initiatives for South Africa – aligning and utilizing Regional & Global leverage and scale, to deliver minimum run rate productivity and P&L savings
  • Establish & Govern CVA / Commodity splits & pricing mechanism for all Concentrates – isolate commodity pricing in order to create a cost strategy that provides effective risk management.
  • Provide technical leadership to the SA supplier base and be a driver of change and performance improvement for the business in line with Commercial and financial priorities. This includes providing capability to respond to the business need for niche & new products, regional sourcing requirements and the need to comply with regulatory and environmental demands for.

    • At least 4 years in leading role of fruits or concentrates, with spend accountability in excess of $50MM
    • Verifiable BCP build capability specific to Concentrates, authentic functional champion to establish alternates and substitutes
    • 5% productivity delivery of Concentrates category Year-on-Year (successful candidate to provide past productivity delivery and P&L savings).
