The role:
To execute environmental assessments, inspections, monitoring and interrogation of monitoring results in line with all relevant statutory and company requirements. Report on any deviations or opportunities identified. Assist with the preparation of reports, the analysis of data and engaging authorities and service providers.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Track compliance to permits, licenses and authorisations to ensure that the operation meets its license to operate obligations
- Log any non-conformances with the environmental management program on the event management system and escalate to line
- Ensure accurate and timeous preparation and submission of internal environmental monitoring and inspection reports
- Assist the Environmental Specialist with the accurate and timeous reporting of all required company and legal environmental information
- Support the Environmental Superintendent and line management in the development of environmentally related policies, standards and procedures
- Attend and provide input on environmental issues in mine planning meetings. Ensure that there are no deviations from EIA commitments and license conditions
- Develop and execute environmental awareness programmes
- Support liaison with environmental regulatory authorities with regards to reporting, auditing activities and closing out directives issued
- Collaborate with line management and employees on addressing any shortcomings or non-conformances identified. Advise line on mitigation measures and track preventative and corrective actions to completion
- Provide first line support to external environmental service providers and consultants with regard to site access, logistics, quality assurance on work outputs, etc.
- Conduct environmental monitoring, inspections and audits on air, water, land, biodiversity and rehabilitation as per environmental management plan requirements
- Capture and maintain environmental monitoring results and environmental information in the computerised environmental management system (Isometrix)
- Contribute to and/or facilitate environmental event investigations and the development and implementation of preventative and/or corrective actions
- Assist in the development, control and monitoring of capital and operating budgets for the environmental function at the operation
Requirements:
- MSc – no experience or Honours / BSc / BTech in Natural / Environmental Science or related field – 18 months to 3 years internship or similar relevant experience in environmental management
- Computer literacy in MS Office
- Valid driver’s license
- In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness
Advantageous:
- Introduction to ISO 14001
- Introduction to Project Management
- Introduction to Environmental Law
- Understanding of local environmental related legislation and reporting requirements for both company and local needs
- Understanding of environmental challenges in the coal mining industry
- In-depth understanding and application of environmental management systems (ISO)
- Knowledge and understanding of environmental impacts and aspects

The role:
The role is to lead a survey team to perform survey field work and associated functions. This will be achieved by being a leader that plans daily activities, organizes manpower and equipment and controls the team output to clients. Assists the Section Surveyor with quality control of survey data and releasing of correct and accurate reports.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Establish directional control and measurement of volumes in the workings of the mine, opencast or underground
- Taking over the duties of a Surveyor when required to ensure continuous operation of the survey functions
- Act in the position of the Section Surveyor when required
- Manage all survey work in area of responsibility.
- Using CAD and volumetric design software, approved by the business, for capturing and calculation of survey information according to standards
- Conduct Volumetric Surveys of:
- Mining volumes and generation of plans for mining
- Compilation of production reports and ad hoc reports
- Provide input to Section Surveyor regarding production results and figures
- Drafting of Survey Notes
- Measuring of water levels at dams
- Actively participate in on-site job safety assessments.
- Operation of a GPS for tache surveying and staking of mining limits
- Operating a theodolite or total station
- Place survey markers for survey control or for staking on surface or underground
- Ensure clean survey equipment / vehicles
- Calibration of survey instruments in use
- Compiling of plans for Mining Operations
- Staking boreholes, direction lines & planned work
- Drone measurements, Scanning and photogrammetry processing
Requirements:
- BTech, BSc, National Diploma, National Higher Diploma or CoM advanced survey certificate OR CoM elementary survey certificate and demonstrated competencies. (Recognition and recommendation for prior learning / experience by a survey manager)
- 3 years’ experience as Surveyor
- Membership of IMSSA
- Intermediate knowledge of: Mine Health and Safety Act, Act 29 of 1996 as amended Minerals Act, No. 50 of 1991, Minerals and Petroleum Development Act., Section 9 of the Mines and Works Act, No 27 of 1956
- Intermediate knowledge of ISO9001, ISO 14001, ISO45001 and the company’s HSE standards
- Knowledge of relevant Seriti operational policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines
- Advanced knowledge of survey software packages
- Able to calibrate and adjust instruments
- Knowledge and understanding of Surveying principles, mining methods and relevant legislation
- Ability to operate survey equipment accurately and safely
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, modify and maintain software models to calculate coal / waste material volumes on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis
- Demonstrated ability in effective monitoring and reporting systems.
- Advanced operation of CAD and Survey software such as: MicroStation, Terrasolid, Model Maker
- Computer literacy in MS Office & SAP
- Valid driver’s license
- In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

The role:
The role directs the maintenance programme for the operation, ensuring effective management and continuous improvement of Seriti’s engineering assets, resources, and infrastructure in a safe and sustainable manner, while overseeing the day-to-day execution of plans to maintain machinery and equipment availability and managing people and resources to achieve planned production targets.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Effective People management, ensuring that roles are well defined and clarified and that competencies and learning paths are developed to human capacity and capability
- Financial Budgeting & Management
- Knowledge of SCADA system, PLC & Electrical reticulation
- Maintain safe work practices and a safe working environment by ensuring that legal requirements and group working standards and policies related to engineering are implemented and followed on the Operations and Projects
- Manage conveyor belt inventory and forecasting
- Management of critical spares and sub-assemblies (stock levels/turnaround time and quality of repairs)
- Managing structural/mechanical/hydraulic drawing libraries
- Optimize planned maintenance schedules of machinery and equipment ensuring that equipment is effectively maintained
- Participate in ad hoc projects providing input into drafting of scope for new projects
- Research and implement best practice systems with respect to cost, maintenance, safety and people management
- Sound knowledge of conveyor belts, transfer chutes, screening, crushing, stacker-reclaimers, pumps, dense medium separation plant and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment
- Structural integrity maintenance management
Requirements:
- N4 Technical certificate and recognized Trade Test in the relevant discipline or National Diploma or Engineering Degree
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience as an appointed 2.9.2 Electrical Foreman
- An in-depth knowledge of technical engineering aspects such as outside equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and South African Bureau of Standards (SABS). An in-depth knowledge of technical engineering aspects such as outside equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and South Africa Bureau of Standards (SABS)
- A good working knowledge and understanding of machinery and equipment used in the Mining industry

Advantageous:
- Technical experience in Low Voltage, instrumentation (control systems) and Medium Voltage equipment and infrastructure
