Job Description

The key purpose of this role is to provide the plant with a comprehensive and professional environment and occupational health and safety system. Ensuring compliance to environment and safety systems, standards and work practices to achieve targets set for the VPO environment and safety pillars as well as the environment and safety KPI’s.

BREWING CONTROL ROOM OPERATOR

The key purpose for this role is the operation of the brewing and associated process areas through a centralised control room and an operator workstation (OWS) and communicating with the operator in the field to ensure smooth operation of the brewing area against the plan for the shift. Depending on the layout of the brewing department, the line manager will allocate the required area for operation by this role. The role is specifically designed to manage areas through a control room via constant reviewing of the process but is also responsible for the coordination activities of the shift, namely escalations of problems, management of yeast planning within the shift, and all raw materials related to each process order being produced. In the absence of a centralised control room, through the line manager discretion, the role is also required to operate certain areas based on the requirement of the department. This position also actively leads shift meetings and alternately shares this responsibility with the Process Operator on shift.

Interpret and implement production plan for shift

Monitor and control production processes on shift using the correct tools as per the VPO standards (OWS,Team Rooms). Operation of certain areas will also be required as requested from the line manager

Key Outputs and Responsibilities:

OPERATIONAL SUPPORT

Provide specialist support for coaching, mentoring, and knowledge transfer of machine operation to shift-based teams

This will include standby, day shift, and when requested after a time frame that standby will need expert advice or support

Assist fellow team members in the execution of their tasks during planned maintenance windows

Partake in maintenance postmortems to feedback problems, opportunities, and learnings from maintenance activities

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

Participating in ATO cleaning, lubrication, and inspection in accordance with the maintenance schedule issued by the Maintenance Planner must be resolved using the appropriate problem-solving techniques

If carrying out routine maintenance activities in accordance with the maintenance schedule where problems have been uncovered during routine maintenance, these required, additional resources may be called to assist

Job Purpose

The Key Purpose of this role is to address the acquisition of technical skills and experience for graduates as well as familiarize them with the company culture and principles in an 18-month structured programme. Minimum Requirements

BSC, BEng or Btech or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics, Energy or Mechatronics
BSC Chemical Engineering
BSC/BTech Biotechnology, Analytical Chemistry or Chemistry or Biology
