Winding Engine Driver

1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
– The Winding Engine Driver is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the shaft winder for the haulage of ore, persons, and materials during a shift.

2. WORK OF ROLE
– Adhering to all safety, emergency and first aid procedures
– Advising defects and abnormalities
– Assist during breakdowns or emergencies
– Compiling accurate shift reports
– Co-ordinate winding activities with total process requirements
– Ensuring safe and reliable workmanship
– Help engineering employees to maintain equipment in the winder area
– Interacting with other teams and systems
– Maintaining own safe and productive workplace
– Performing ore pulling operations from relevant levels
– Responding to standard hauling signals
– Safe and effective operation of the winder during a shift, within the framework of the act and identifying electrical and/or mechanical faults

Human Resources Assistant Recruitment

1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
– The HR Assistant Recruitment is responsible for providing and supporting the Recruitment Department with an administration function. The HR Assistant Recruitment forms an integral part of the Recruitment Team and delivers support to the team with administrative operational functions.

2. WORK OF ROLE
– Accurate record keeping and reporting processes
– Alignment of recruitment process/practice to policy and procedure
– Assist with providing information for audits
– Book candidates for medical fitness
– Book psychometric assessments
– Build interview files for panel members
– Collecting and archiving of personal files

– Minimum of 2 year’s human resources experience of which 1 year must be in the mining environment

Unit Controller

1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
– The Unit Controller role is responsible for the orderly movement and loading of personnel through designated control points in the shaft system and for assisting Housing and Estate Development staff to maintain SAV discipline.

2. WORK OF ROLE
– Assist with administration of security in designated SAV area
– Attends entire loading of personnel at beginning of shift
– Checks and reports on shift clear to responsible person
– Ensure designated area conforms to housekeeping standards
– Ensures maintenance of order at start of shift
– Ensures orderly clocking and collection of lamps
– Ensures orderly queuing and boarding of cages on shaft bank
– Response to day to day SAV complaints

Safety Officer Mining (UG)

1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
– The Safety Officer is a legal appointment in terms of regulation 2.17.4 of the Minerals Act. The role is responsible for the development, implementation and management of safety and risk control programmes, as well as ensuring legal compliance and provision of a safety advisory and reporting service to the operational unit or area.

2. WORK OF ROLE
– Carry out statutory inspections

Shaft Timberman

1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
– The Shaft Timberman is responsible to provide engineering maintenance, repairs and construction services to the shaft and station area.

2. WORK OF ROLE
– Allocating resources and equipment according to priorities

– Blasting hanging boxes
– Blasting in decline area
– Communicating operational problems

1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
– This role has a 2.9.2 appointment in terms of the MHSA, Act of 1996: maintain, install and commission engineering components of the machinery and equipment to an agreed standard in the area of responsibility.

Survey Assistant (UG)

1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
– Survey Assistant supports the Surveyor during surveying and measuring by providing skills to the Surveyor in the process of data collection, either on surface or underground.

2. WORK OF ROLE

1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
– The Processor Grade 3 is a shift-based entry role, which is required to carry out tasks pertaining to specific work procedures within the section. This role generally works under the direct supervision of a more senior position.

1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
– A Cheesa fulfils a shift role in a panel area of mining operations and is responsible for all charging up and related activities under the guidance of the Mining Team Supervisor.

2. WORK OF ROLE
– Assist during breakdowns or emergencies
– Effective panel charging up, cleaning and support
– Ensure high standard of safety in panel
– Ensure that a blast in the next shift can take place
– Ensure that mechanical equipment is in good running order
– Help in-stope logistics to maintain equipment
– Identify opportunities to improve operations in panel
– Identify risks and threats to the process proactively
– Make sure panel is safe, support early entry and exit inspections, bar face
– Support efforts to overcome operational problems in panel
– Support the measurement of mining activities
– Support the Mining Team Supervisor in identifying material requirements

3. QUALIFICATIONS
– Grade 10
– Cheesa Certificate of Competency

4. EXPERIENCE
– Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Cheesa
