We are looking for a Financial Accountant
A Financial Accountant is responsible for managing financial accounting activities, ensuring
accurate recording, reporting, and compliance of financial information for internal and external
stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and publish accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements,
including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements - Manage general ledger activities, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and monthend and year-end closing processes
- Perform account and bank reconciliations and support internal and external audit
processes - Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and financial regulations
(GAAP / IFRS) - Assist with budgeting processes, monitor expenditure, perform variance analysis, and
support financial forecasting - Manage tax-related activities including VAT and corporate income tax calculations,
submissions, and compliance - Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and provide insights to
management - Contribute to the development and improvement of financial policies, procedures, and
internal controls
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Registered Tax Practitioner experience and proven tax practitioner capability
- 3–5 years’ experience in financial accounting or a similar role
- Experience preparing financial statements and managing full accounting cycles
- Working knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience supporting audits and regulatory reporting
- Office-based in Johannesburg with flexibility.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (GAAP, IFRS)
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Sage)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Financial modelling and forecasting capability
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
